About this deal

In 1964, Langley made a series of tapes for New York radio station WBAI, reading "The Tale of the Land of Green Ginger" in its entirety. He subsequently edited it down to fit on an LP, which was issued by the listener-sponsored station and offered as a fund-raising premium. Langley continued to write novels and plays throughout his life. He also wrote short stories for the Saturday Evening Post and other magazines. Hairdresser's shop at the corner of Manor Street and the Land of Green Ginger Possibly England's smallest window at the George Hotel Chapter the First, Which Explains How, Why, When and Where There Was Ever Any Problem in the First Place

Winifred Holtby was a committed socialist and feminist who wrote the classic South Riding as a warm yet sharp social critique of the well-to-do farming community she was born into. The plot twists and turns, the characters are complex and yet somehow real. The families, relations, events all torment, delight and challenge. Sometimes she throws in human observations and insights that cause me to reflect that , 'Oh! so it's not just me...'Adaptation (by Langley?) included in Shirley Temple's Storybook companion volume published by Random House in the US Land of Green Ginger was presented in the form of a series of Acts of Wanton Wonder, united under an overarching narrative. The projects were developed and delivered with artists who worked both independently and in collaboration to bring new kinds of art and culture into the neighbourhoods outside the city centre. More to the point, it was obvious from the mix of people... that this is a true local bar and it’s easy to see why it is so popular. The decor isn’t just old-style, it’s old in respect of not been refurbished for rather a long time. But somehow, that works perfectly here. It has been said that the building has a few spectres who roam the rooms. Although nobody seems to have felt threatened by the ghostly events there have been unexplained smells, sounds of footsteps, feelings of not being alone as well as lights and equipment being turned off and on and sightings of a 'Grey Lady' ghost.

Audiences played with the collective power of Hull’s voice, and helped Re-Rediffusion in their quest to find the elusive Essence de Voix… Act V – Micropolis

This may be a pointless review. The copy I have is an original 1937 edition which, so far as I know, is the only one to contain the beautiful original colour illustrations by the author. Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate. Another excerpt included as the chapter "Abu Ali Meets a Dragon" anthology Spellbound: Fantasy Stories (apparently republished in 2003/04 and 2007) But my feelings about this book were a little mixed - much more positive than negative, but definitely mixed. The Land of Green Ginger features in Beatrix Potter's 1929 novel The Fairy Caravan. The story opens: "In The Land of Green Ginger there is a town called Marmalade, which is inhabited exclusively by guinea-pigs." [9]
