About this deal

That would be the review in a nutshell, but there's a whole lot more to chew on, particularly if you're looking to build out a multiroom system for your home and are trying to decide between Bose's and Sonos' ecosystems. I would recommend Bose over Sonos speaker. The sound quality from Bose sounds much more sophisticated when play through modified equalizer. When ever you play a music on the Bose speaker through an iPhone, the quality will never be as good just because iPhone is never designed to put out quality music / sound.

If you like doing things the old-fashioned way, the Bose comes with an excellent physical remote. The entire handset has a pleasant rubbery texture and the logically arranged buttons are satisfying to press. It’s a pleasure to use. A lot of the selections can be saved on one of the six presets located on top of the unit and also included with the APP.

Often compared with Bose SoundTouch 30 Series III

Two years ago, we gave the SoundTouch series III 30 four stars, but the subsequent introduction of similarly sized speakers with similar features since – most notably from Audio Pro and Denon – has shed a different, and less favourable, light on its abilities. En general, es un buen producto que, a pesar de lo ya comentado, te deja satisfecho. Es impresionante el volumen que alcanza algo tan pequeño y lo fácil que se maneja. ¿La recomiendo? Sí, con toda seguridad. In the two years since Bose's SoundTouch line first appeared, it has gone through several changes. What began as two tabletop speakers and a portable has become an entire suite of wireless multiroom speakers. Many Bose products, from Wave radios to the company's home theater systems, and even outdoor speakers, now include Wi-Fi and are designed to link up with other SoundTouch system in a multiroom setup.

In the end we had to install the SoundTouch software on that laptop and tell it to look for an " NAS," even though it was just software running on the same machine. All that said, Bose's primary customer for this system probably isn't the person who has a networked music library or the hard-core audiophile. It's targeting people who want a system that's simple to set up and use and is most likely tapping into a music service such as Spotify, Pandora or Internet radio. Performance While we found the original Bose SoundTouch 20 to be more neutral sounding than the original Sonos Play:5 this time around the roles are reversed. The bigger SoundTouch 30 III is the more exciting of the two flagship speakers. At low to medium volumes, it sounds magnificent with plenty of oomph from the bass woofer. The ability to easily connect a NAS device is a bonus, but one tempered by the omission even of Tidal– surely the most popular lossless streaming service.I now have had the Bose music system for eight months, one 30 and five 10s, and the Bose system is often spotty with its connecting to my strong wifi and Spotify especially when the weather is bad. I know it's not Spotify because my iPhone, iPad, and MacBook Air usually connect well to Spotify- not that Spotify doesn't have problems itself. There have been many Bose updates, but the problem continues. Like just now. And now again. And now again (it's raining). Another thing- the speaker system and the microwave don't play well together. Compared to the more neutral Yamaha NX-N500 monitor speakers, the bass of the Bose SoundTouch 30 sounded overemphasized -- which was apparent when listening to King Crimson's "Walking on Air" via Radio Paradise -- the bass notes tended to overhang or sit a little too long.

One of the most welcome changes Bose has made is in the setup of the speaker. When the SoundTouch range was first introduced you needed to connect each speaker to your PC via a USB cable, and this was light years behind Sonos' wireless system. While the improved routine is still not as elegant as Sonos' -- you need to press the "2" and "Vol-" together to put the speaker in setup mode -- it's still preferable to what preceded it. However, there are two issues here. Functions such as queuing songs and creating playlists – key to the usability of systems such as Sonos – are missing, as are some of the major streaming services. Thanks to its built-in Wi-Fi connection, the SoundTouch 30 lets you stream music from servers on your home network, such as PCs and NAS drives, as well as Spotify, Deezer and internet radio. You can link up several SoundTouch devices in different rooms and enjoy the same music through them all, or send different sources to individual speakers. These functions are carried out through Bose’s SoundTouch controller app, available for iOS and Android devices. One issue I would point out to others is that my router (and many others) supports both 2.4G and 5G wifi network speeds. I have internal networks at both of these speeds and guest networks for both speeds as well. I used the 5G speed for the Bose (it does operate on both speeds which I appreciate) in an attempt to reduce buffering if that might be an issue. I have had no trouble with buffering or disconnects at all. The unit has run for several long days without a single issue. But we have had issues with our iphones not finding the speaker on occasion. After leaving home and returning, the iphone might select any of our internal networks for wifi connection. I learned that if I have trouble finding the speaker, I can make sure my iphone is using the same network as the speaker and it finds it immediately. The speaker's upper-mids emphasis helps if you're using this as a speaker for your TV (yes you can do that using the audio input). Vocals (dialogue) are crisply delivered and easy to decipher. There's a definite "notchiness" to the speaker's response that emphasizes the sibilants in speech or the breathiness in a sax player's noodlings. That breathiness combined with the speaker's onboard processing gives the Bose an openness that the the Sonos Play:5 doesn't have. It is also further restricted by the company’s control app. All the basics are in place: pairing is simple, grouping components or conversely setting them apart is simple and well synchronised, and it runs smoothly. I have one SoundTouch 30 and four SoundTouch 10s on my first floor- large high ceiling great room and moderate sized kitchen open to each other as well as a large first floor bedroom. I am in heaven that I can go from room to room seamlessly. The sound is superb to my non-expert ears. Set up was a breeze including adding units, and support was also superb when I called with a couple of questions. I do wish there was support for AirPlay over WiFi, but maybe with enough requests there will be in the future. I did find the instructions both with the included sheet and the online manual sketchy and not thorough, but with the phone support I was able to figure things out, particularly with how to turn on all the units and have them flow with the same music. I am happy. Paired with Spotify for primarily classical music and opera, beyond happy. Ecstatic? Given the clunkiness of my old stereo system state of the art early 1990s? Please! Amazing where technology has come, particularly with this latest offering from Bose. Happily there were zero problems with synchronization when listening to both a SoundTouch 10 and a SoundTouch 30 in a simulated house environment. Both speakers were perfectly in sync. Maybe this bodes well for adding the ability to pair two speakers in stereo in the future? (With Sonos, you can create left/right stereo pairs with two Play:5 or Play:1 speakers, for example -- no such feature exists with Bose yet). An improved wireless speaker
