About this deal

Immerse: The Bible Reading Experience takes away the distraction of chapter and verse numbers for an enjoyable reading experience. It allows readers to engage with the Bible in the original literary formats, such as letters, poetry, and history, without being bogged down in unintended breaks in the flow of the narrative. NLT Study Bibleis our flagship study Bible. Filled with thousands of notes, articles, and more from fifty of the world’s leading Bible scholars, this Bible will take you deeper into God’s Word and help you better understand the world of the Bible. When the first church council met to consider the membership of Gentiles in the church, those present followed the Spirit’s direction (15:28). Christian workers such as Stephen and Philip were filled with the Spirit and preached by his power (6:1–8:40), and Paul’s ministry was charged with the Spirit’s energy from the beginning (9:17). Yet beside this humble lowliness is a message of unspeakable power and grandeur. The child who is laid in a manger is the Messiah, the long-awaited descendant of King David. He will reign triumphant over the people of Israel and his kingdom will never end. He is the one spoken about by all the prophets. All of history has been pointing forward to its climax in him. An army of mighty angels comes from heaven to announce his birth. The Illustrated Study Bible is one of the most beautiful Bibles on the market. It gives readers an entirely new visual study experience. Hundreds of information-rich windows to the world of the Bible communicate foundational truths and complex information in an understandable way.

If you can't tell, I absolutely love this Bible. It brought the characters to life for my sons, in the pictures of some of their favorite people like David and Goliath, or Daniel in the Lion's Den. It shows examples and explains the animals and plants, musical instruments, texts and artifacts, and history of different time periods. This is not only important to me as a homeschool Mom, but also as a Christian wife and mother. It opened my eyes to how the Bible and the stories connect throughout history, and how it is so relevant to us even more today. I would highly recommend this Bible if you are looking for a way to study or understand the scriptures. It would also make an exceptional gift to someone who may be trying to grasp these studies as well. Additionally, the NLT Illustrated Study Bible includes an impressive collection of end matter consisting of a series of indexes for these notes, as well as the more typical concordance and color maps. These indexes make it easy to find comments or feature articles based on subject. The end result is that this study Bible is actually usable like a Bible dictionary. This functionality is not a foregone conclusion with study Bibles. In fact, of the basic Bible study tool belt, Bible dictionaries are often the part that is not really represented (or is represented very poorly) in typical study Bibles. That the NLT Study Bible/Illustrated Study Bible functions in this way so well really sets it apart from the average study Bible. Jesus used his final Passover meal to show that his sacrificial death would give new meaning to the festival (Mark 14:17‑31). In John, the cross became an altar where Christ, the Passover lamb, was slain. Jesus’ legs were not broken (John 19:33), fulfilling a Passover rule (19:36; Exod 12:46). Blood ran freely from his wound (John 19:34), showing that his life was being exchanged for others. Just as a lamb died to save the lives of Jewish families at the Passover in Egypt, so, too, the death of the Son of God on the cross serves to bring salvation to the world. So imagine my delight when Tyndale Publishers sent me over to review an NLT illustrated study Bible that’s full color, filled with pictures, ladden with charts, and stuffed with maps, tables, timelines, and everything else a visual learner could want. urn:lcp:nltillustratedst0000unse:epub:07a62dcb-7ae0-4f51-9dbe-b48d64007c54 Foldoutcount 0 Identifier nltillustratedst0000unse Identifier-ark ark:/13960/s24kqz57np7 Invoice 1652 Isbn 9781496402004Jesus’ birth took place in unusual circumstances, when Joseph took Mary to Bethlehem to register for an official Roman census. The child was born in a stable because no other lodging was available (Luke 2:1‑7). Some time later, Mary and Joseph fled to Egypt to save the child from Herod’s massacre of young boys in the Bethlehem area (Matt 2:13‑18). When they returned, they resettled in Nazareth to raise their family (Matt 2:19‑23). After Jesus’ birth, Mary apparently gave birth to several other sons and daughters (Matt 13:55‑56; Mark 6:3). It is likely that Mary herself told Luke the details of Jesus’ birth and the unusual events associated with it (Luke 2:51). It’s so helpful to “see” the different walls and gates mentioned in Nehemiah, especially when you’re trying to understand their stilted progress while rebuilding the wall. Graduation is an exciting time, but it can also be a bit scary as we move from one stage of life into the next. Whether graduating from 8th grade, high school, college, or beyond, a Bible can be the perfect gift. Give your loved one the gift of comfort, hope, encouragement, and direction as they begin this new journey. Here are some ideas: I am not suggesting that the people responsible for the NLT Study Bible/Illustrated Study Bible are narrow-minded or even necessarily Fundamentalists. But the commentary does reflect a more-or-less Fundamentalist approach to biblical interpretation. Some will find this comforting. I find it a slight disappointment because study Bibles are the most common Bible reference tool used today, so they are an opportunity for the scholars involved in producing them to teach the multitudes responsible and healthy biblical interpretation. I just feel that in some ways the NLT Study Bible is a missed opportunity.

The study notes appear under the text in three columns. They give the chapter and verse number in bold and the portion of text they correspond to in italics. They include explanations and cross references. When doctrine is discussed and there is more than one possible explanation all of those explanations are given. I prefer this because it gives you points to study rather than only showing one view. Whether finishing college, high school, middle school, or even kindergarten, graduation is a time of transition and change. It is an exciting time that also comes with a bit of trepidation about the future. What’s next? How does this change my relationships? Is the best really yet to come? Tyndale team tried to give an illustrated Bible that would be great for study at the personal level or as a corporation in Bible Study group. I love references and maps in the book. It loaded with information about the subjects that many Christians have questions about. The NLT Illustrated Study Bible boasts nearly 26,000 study notes, hundreds of feature articles and word studies, and comprehensively written book and section introductions. These are the bread and butter of any study Bible, and the NLT Illustrated Study Bible does not fail to impress in this regard. Filled with genuine historical and theological content, the commentary of the NLT Illustrated Study Bible is rarely if ever pure devotional fluff. A superscript letter appearing in front of the English word in a passage indicates that it’s one of the 200 word or phrase studies offered in this Bible. These word studies include the Strong’s number, a transliteration or the word, and the location for the next reference in that word chain. While it’s not an in-depth study of the word, this certainly gives you enough to satisfy your cursory curiosity and identify whether this is a word you’ll want to look into more in-depth. The NLT TranslationThese contrasts are a foretaste of things to come. In Jesus, the God of Israel and Lord of all the earth has come to visit and to save his people. The Divine One reaches down to meet them where they are. Throughout Luke’s Gospel, Jesus will show special concern for the lowly, the poor, the outcast, and sinners. These are the ones he has come to

I was blown away by this Bible. There is an Introduction and How to Study the Bible section, but it is literally, an all inclusive way to learn the Bible. My husband is in college now studying Theology, and he was amazed by this Bible also. When he has a question over a theological explanation of a piece of scripture, he pulls out his commentaries, books, or the Internet to look at what the meaning behind that specific verse is. It also has explanations, a Features Index, Dictionary and Index to look up verses, subjects or characters of the Bible. The Illustrated Study Bible is one of the most beautiful Bibles on the market.
