About this deal

Emulator is Snes9x 2005 v1.36 (Git commit b94a804). For most firmware versions before 1.71, SNES games often appear to run very slowly on first launch; you can learn more about this issue and how to correct it here. Genesis/Mega Drive If you're planning to customise your SF2000 in any way, then I strongly recommend the very first thing you do is fix an annoying bug in the device's bootloader - otherwise you're likely to end up with a non-booting device. Seriously - do this before you do anything else! You can swap out the buttons and d-pad (and their membranes) for ones from original SNES controllers (not SNES Classic), which gives a more retro "mushy" feel (if your replacement buttons have 3 "pins", you may need to file or clip one of the pins off) I would say that almost all of the hype is because the Data Frog SF2000 is so incredibly cheap and it can still play games semi-decent.

Another custom firmware FAQ update (a second core, gpSP, has now been compiled and is at an early stage of running). The screen is a 3 inch LCD that is covered by a plastic lens. There’s no lamination like we typically see in current handhelds. Multimedia, Budget Multimedia, Gaming, Budget Gaming, Lightweight Gaming, Business, Budget Office, Workstation, Subnotebooks, Ultrabooks, ChromebooksThe next sequence of bytes is the name of a .zip file in the bin folder, without any path (SF2000's firmware automatically looks for the .zip in a bin subfolder relative to where the .zfb file is stored - thanks .ericgoldstein for the testing!), e.g. gamename.zip Added more details about how the boot logo ends up scaled on the screen, as well as a link to a new tool I wrote for altering the logo. Corrected one small formatting error.

Titles for the Game Boy and Game Boy Color play well. Super Nintendo is hit or miss. And Game Boy Advance is only going to be okay (not great). Updated the CFW FAQ with some more details on the multicore experiment. Fixed a typo (Cave Story, not Cave Store - thanks neddunn!). Create a community-edited spreadsheet with information on SNES and GBA games that are known to play well. Will also contain information on games from other platforms that are known to not play well (given that other platforms mostly run fine). Update: Some are already reporting that the latest FW update is improving GBA performance significantly! My biggest complaint about playing games on the Data Frog SF2000 is that every single game will be forced to fullscreen and have a bilinear filter applied. The operating system does allow for save states, as well. So you do have the ability to save and load your game play on the fly. This is a nice touch for a budget handheld. Gaming PerformanceWhile we wait (forever?) for a possible CFW, this thread is going to collect information on known mods and repositories with useful mods/tools/info for the Data Frog SF2000. I do not claim to have produced any of this information or software/tools. All credit goes to the original authors and makers. If you think you deserve credit and I missed you, please let me know and I will edit this. If you would rather I remove your tool, or credit, or both, let me know and will also do this too. You can change the default button mappings for each emulator (newer firmwares have this feature built-in, but the built-in implementation is buggy) I advise that you switch comments sorting to "sort by: old", as there is a second post by me that will contain secondary (and less vital) information, as well as outdated information and other news. For example, it now contains information on a new colour version of the SF2000 being released. These numbers control the position and size of the game artwork in each system's game-list. The first two numbers are the X and Y coordinates from the top-left corner of the screen for where to start drawing the artwork; the second two numbers are the width and height of the artwork to draw. Note that the SF2000 doesn't do any image scaling; the dimensions are for the rectangular area the device will begin adding each pixel of the source artwork to. If the artwork's dimensions don't exactly match the dimensions specified here, the artwork will not display properly Used to store the history of played ROMs; only appears after the first game is played after installing the 05.15 or later firmware. User ROMs are not added to history, only built-in games. If a built-in game that is referenced in history is removed from the device, the device will crash when trying to view the History screen. You can delete the History.bin file to clear the device's history; there is no built-in functionality to do so

Discord user nanchon18#2262 discovered that with Neo Geo games using the Unibios, the Unibios menu can be accessed in-game by pressing SELECT + START + up simultaneously. The Unibios allows access to features like cheats and DIP-switch settings for the game. .skp Files Emulator is PicoDrive 1.91 (Git commit cbc93b6). Works pretty well. This emulator is capable of loading Master System ROMs if placed in the user ROMs folder on the microSD card; Game Gear ROMs do not load. Some PAL-region games may run too fast; NTSC-region games seem to always run at the correct speed. On the original firmware, A was mapped to A, B was mapped to B, and RB was mapped to C for some reason. See " Button Mappings/Key Bindings" section below. Game Boy Updated resource tables for the new 1.5 firmware (no changes); added a table with details about known firmware versions. Added a "Tools & Links" section. If you've done anything at all to the bios folder on the microSD card ( anything at all), then there's a good chance you've run into the bootloader bug - you can find the two fixes to it below. Alternatively (or if neither of the two fixes work for you), follow Data Frog's instructions to wipe your microSD card and flash a clean firmware image, or try using Tadpole's built-in fix feature. Well a lot of us in the emulation community were a bit surprised to hear so many of our peers talking about a brand new budget handheld that they actually liked. Due to the different nature of arcade emulation compared to any of the other systems the SF2000 supports, the ROM layout for the arcade section is different as well. Inside the /ARCADE folder in the root of the microSD card you'll find a bin subfolder, and a bunch of .zfb files. The bin folder contains .zip files with an enforced 8.3 file naming scheme, and they contain the actual ROM data for the FBA emulator. The .zfb files are used to populate the arcade game list when you go into the arcade section on the SF2000's menu, and their file structure is as follows: Although the main CPU of the SF2000 has literally had it's markings milled off by a routing tool, the community has determined that it's a HCSEMI B210, a single-core MIPS processor running at 810 MHz (or 918 MHz with the 1.6 firmware onwards). It appears to be a clone of an ALi Tech chip. An SDK has been found for it. Display

The experience of navigating the operating system is not the most intuitive or smooth, but it gets the job done. This is a stripped-down, bare-bones version of the Datafrog SF2000 OS without any ROMS included. Changes: I still think the SF2000 has surprises and I've found one of them. I've decided to throw some of my own roms into the the SF2000 ROM directory and here's what I found out:
