About this deal

Personally I prefer The Secret Footballers collection but Crouch being able to put names to stories and his own laidback style is a great touch. For every successful pundit, there’s a footballer struggling to adjust to life; and while some may find a new lease in becoming a painter, a detective or an MP, the path for others isn’t quite so rewarding. Peter talks to entrepreneurs, men of the cloth, eco warriors, artists, private detectives and budding actors, as well as those who've lost their way in addiction, crime and NFTs. This was a decent book and certainly there were some touching moments as well as laugh out loud moments. In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money.

Having previously covered the weird and wonderful life of being a footballer to great effect, this latest book changes its focus slightly to the weird and wonderful life of being a former football, that is the jobs and careers of retired footballers, and, no, before you ask, it’s not all working on their golf handicap, though, I’m sure, a few of them do that too.He has clearly interviewed a number of former footballing pals and it comes across as an insightful read. Is this a difficult third book where the best idea comes in the epilogue: think of a retired footballer and make it their day. For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare--poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Now Caine delves into the real stories behind the gangs we think we know so well, revealing the hidden realities behind the myths.

Otherwise, it’s a really interesting look into a number of other peoples post-football careers and pretty touching at times too. Do you feel weighed down by stress and pressure, held back by judgement and lack of opportunity, and critcised by everyone – including yourself? I would recommend all young and upcoming football professionals read the last poignant chapter of this book at least.I talks about the struggles and demons facing footballers once they are too old to play professionally. The audiobook reflects Rhonda’s own journey and shares the most direct way out for those experiencing hardship and the path to end pain and suffering endured by so many, and it shines a light on a future without anxiety or fear.
