About this deal

I sounded pathetic. And as I type this, I’m cringing with embarrassment. I really don’t know what Tara made of it! Tara crossed her right leg over her left leg, accidentally bumping my left shin with her foot. Tara said “Sorry!” and moved her foot away immediately. Tara didn’t look very happy when I said this. She gave me an icy stare and said “Yes, quite likely she will. But the sooner she has another temper tantrum, the sooner we’ll all be rid of her!” Obviously the green team is the problem staff members plus Brian. Helen and her three main enemies. Obviously Tara just wanted me to ‘dry’ her boots so Helen would see and get annoyed, perhaps losing her temper so she gets fired. There were no puddles in the carpark this morning and her boots were completely dry. Tara had been at work for over an hour and walking around on the carpeted floor, so any moisture that might have been on her boots’ soles from the carpark had already dried.

I saw Helen roll her eyes, but then she ignored what Tara had said, and continued to talk to me about our waiting lists. Tara stood up and said “OK. But don’t worry about cleaning my boots. They don’t really need cleaning. I just wanted to provoke Helen into losing her temper.” Tara came into my work area and said, joking, “Where were you? I had to get my own lunch! And it’s raining!” Andrew asked me to his office for a chat. He also thinks I’m trying to win Tara’s affections. He basically said that Tara is bad news and will “throw you under the bus without giving it a second thought”. He kept telling me there are plenty of women out there, and I should give up on chasing Tara.Tara slowly shook her head and gave me a suspicious look. Then she said “Are you trying to get rid of me??” Tara’s frown turned into a scowl as she shook her head and said “Why would YOU pay for MY shoe repairs??? That’s ridiculous!!!” Then she shrugged and her face relaxed, and she said “OK! If you really want to pay, then you can pay! But I think it’s kind of weird that you would pay for my shoes to be repaired. I’ve got a hairdressers appointment on Friday! Do you want to pay for that as well???” In the last ten months, things have changed a lot at my work. From the start of September, the government began subsidising our services, and we’ve been really busy. We put on more staff, and had to move to larger premises. Helen said “OH!! MY! ! GOD!! Now I’ve seen EVERYTHING!!!! I can’t believe you’re cleaning her BOOTS!!!!”

Tara wasn’t looking at Helen at all. Tara was just standing there in her grey pant suit with one leg lifted up and her foot on my desk. Tara had a smug grin on her face as she stood there looking at her right boot while I wiped it clean. Tara said “Oh yes. Definitely! Funny thing is, my mum says I’ve always been like that.... everything has to be clean, and especially my clothes and shoes.” Tara laughed a little, then said “They know what I’m like.... I can’t stand it if my clothing or footwear are dirty. I’ve always been like that!” Note from DArchivist: I'll be reposting this story in its raw form, typos and all. The only thing changed was "dumb quotes" to “curly quotes” + formatting of the parts and scene breaks.Or, press Windows key+ I to open Settings and use the Tab key, arrow keys, and Enter key to choose Devices, then Touchpad. But I could tell that Bernadette wasn’t happy with Brian’s inadequate response to what Bernadette felt was totally unacceptable behaviour. Bernadette left in a huff. When Tara rang to request her morning coffee, I told her that I’d almost finished cleaning off the cat hair. Tara said “Mmm. How did someone like that get employed here in the first place? She’s so feral! And from what I’ve heard, she’s been verbally abusive to pretty much everyone that works here. Not to mention the way she speaks to the customers.”
