About this deal

He is retelling the story of his friend Arthur, who he accompanied through all his struggles and shared his successes and failures with. It is quite clear that religion here serves as yet another means by which men gain control and how theocracy influences government. In the second book of the Warlord Chronicles, Bernard Cornwell brilliantly retells the Arthurian legend, combining myth, history and thrilling battlefield action. In a ceremony witnessed by the kings allied to Dumnonia, Mordred is brought to Caer Cadarn and granted his full power. I thought he did a good job on the Winter King, but some of the Monty Python-esque women's voices were a bit awkward.

Most certainly the best book I've read this year, and I'll chop off a thumb and sacrifice it to Mithras if something can top this. Against all odds, Arthur, the warlord of Dumnonia, has achieved peace among the warring British kingdoms and is set to turn his army against the Saxons. Derfel, agora já velho e cristão, está contando e transcrevendo a história de Artur para a sua atual rainha Igraine, e não há ninguém melhor do que ele para fazer isso, pois lutou ao lado do herói por quase toda a vida. While the first half is still slow paced, the pacing is much more balanced now compared to the previous book where the first half was so dense with descriptions and minim dialogues.

Moreover, the word of the Lord came to me: “Son of man, raise a lamentation over the king of Tyre, and say to him, Thus says the Lord God: “You were the signet of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. I felt myself empathising with him so much more as he struggles internally in regards to doing what he believes is right, and what he is bound to do; as well as his own wants and desires. Arthur believes none of this mystical nonsense, and is up to his elbows just trying to keep the Saxons from invading Britain. Holy Spirit, if there is any part of me that has been influenced wrongly by the world, I ask You to please show it to me and help me get it corrected.

The second half has faster paced, the last two chapters (more or less the last 60 pages of the book), in particular, were damn thrilling despite having only a small amount of actions. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away. Chaos was now thick across Britain, for someone had spilt the Cauldron’s power and its horror threatened to engulf us all.Cornwell's strict Protestant upbringing informed the background of A Crowning Mercy, which took place during the English Civil War. In Luke 23:12, the word echthros is used to communicate the enmity and animosity that existed between Pilate and Herod Antipas before they became allies at the time of Jesus’ crucifixion. Following a hard-fought victory, Arthur appears to have at last won the unity of the British Kingdoms. Narrated by Derfel, now a old monk and dying, then a warrior and servant of Arthur in these Dark Ages. All through Israel’s history, the people of God contended with enemies committed to their destruction.

Read more about the condition Very Good: A book that has been read and does not look new, but is in excellent condition. Or will you follow the law, saving millions of people’s lives that you don’t know in exchange of your loyal friend’s existence? I strongly advise any lovers of historical fiction, or the stories of Arthur to read this, you will not be disappointed.

The usual suspects, greed, power, sex, revenge and religion, keep getting in the way of Arthur's aspirations of becoming a farmer.
