About this deal

Your books are romantic comedies, but you don’t shy away from exploring complicated relationships, and examining issues of gender, class, xenophobia in your fiction. When you sit down to write, do you have in mind the theme you hope to touch on? Ash is talking to Argot over the computer from Syria to Scotland but we don't know much. We know he saw his mother but we don't know if they are all living together as a family or anything. Dystopian Fiction Books Everyone Should Read: Explore The Darker Side of Possible Worlds and Alternative Futures As the summer solstice approaches, can Flora handle everyone else’s Happy Every Afters—and still get her own? Three couples. One midsummer's night. Can everyone get their happy ever after? About This Edition ISBN:

Lorena finds out she is pregnant with Sif's baby. Sif doesn't know and Lorena says she will never tell him. She says Sif deserves peace and he won't have that knowing he left her alone and pregnant. Such as: A woman's life is defined by her children, revolves around her children, and she has no identity beyond being a mother (Senga was a particularly sharp example of this, and it felt like the appalling treatment of her was completely dismissed). On a remote Scottish island, three couples are tying the knot - but even in paradise, nothing is plain-sailing...With no fewer than three weddings on the cards, An Island Wedding, the fifth novel in the series, offers dedicated fans a prime seat at the top table. But fear not if this is your first visit to Mure Island – the book begins with a funny reprise to welcome readers into its world, “ whether you’ve just joined us (welcome!) or whether you have just finished reading all the others”. I play the piano quite seriously. I mean, I’m terrible, but I’m on the good end of terrible. Every second I’m not writing or out or doing stuff, I’m at one of the pianos. (I own more pianos that is strictly appropriate. If you know a middle-aged man who drools over cars, well I’m a bit like that but with pianos). I have a wonderful teacher and once a year I go to France to a piano boot camp where we start doing piano yoga at 7am, have lessons all morning, practice all afternoon then perform at night for a week. I absolutely love it. I also have a harp, but I’m not very good at it. I loved this novel and every single one of its characters. Supremely heartfelt, hilarious and heartrending - it's an absolute triumph.' Sophie Kinsella

Situated in the sunny Southern Caribbean, Aruba sees less rainfall than the rest of the region. Along with consistently excellent weather, visitors have the added benefit of being outside of the hurricane zone. The island is renowned for its beautiful beaches and although it may be small, there’s plenty to do and see. Plus, the all-inclusive wedding resorts around the island boast beachfront luxury and modern amenities for couples and their guests to enjoy. The Bahamas New York Times bestselling author Jenny Colgan brings us a delightful summer novel that will sweep you away to the remote Scottish island of Mure, where two very different weddings are about to take place… The setting on the tiny island of Mure is so much fun. The island and village are well described and it’s just such a nice escape to visit the island and interact with all these fun characters. Also, a former resident of the island, Oliva Macdonald has decided to have an over-the-top, spectacle of a wedding the very same weekend as Flora’s wedding. Oliva brings her wedding planning entourage to the island and nothing will be the same for Flora. I loved this novel and every single one of its characters. Supremely heartfelt, hilarious and heartrending – it’s an absolute triumph.’ Sophie Kinsella

Jamaica offers over 700 miles of coastline glistening with pure white and golden sands against the azure Caribbean Sea. Nature-loving couples can enjoy the beautiful Ocho Rios waterfalls while nightlife aficionados can head to Montego Bay for world-class dining as well as dancing. Of course, music is the heart of Jamaica, and you’ll be easily swept away by the rhythmic beat of the island. Aruba An Island Wedding by Jenny Colgan is her fifth book in her popular Mure series but can be read as a stand-alone book. In fact, the author includes a brief synopsis of the series in her introduction, which was very helpful. So, although you can read An Island Wedding as a stand-alone, you’ll want to read the entire series as these characters are so much fun, and the setting is gorgeous and a place I’d love to visit someday, even if it’s fictional!

An emotional, heartwarming exploration of grief and anxiety that contemporary women's fiction fans will want on their shelves."— Booklist on Sunrise by the Sea But I am convinced that can't really be where some of these characters stories end, one in particular I would love to see more of, even in a spin off, as it's the characters that have taken a spot in my heart since their first introduction.

And then there’s Lorna and Saif. The local headmistress and the GP desperately keeping their relationship a secret to protect his sons. But while they’re looking out for the boys, who’s looking out for them? You set your books in different locations in the UK. What is the significance of place in developing your characters and themes? I find Colgan's books to be like receiving a hug--full of comfort and warmth and I know that I'm getting a lovely, delightful read with every one.

Joel is very angry. He and Flora don't talk and finally she says they can postpone the wedding and tell everyone they are waiting until their child Douglas can walk down the aisle. He is not walking yet. Flora is trying – and failing – not to let Olivia and Anthony’s wedding distract her from planning her own big day with Joel. But the couple have wildly different ideas about how to celebrate and somehow, just when their relationship should be plain sailing, everything is suddenly very hard indeed.

And one of my favourite Colgan features is present, the intro letter at the start of the book to bring new and existing readers right up to date with key parts of the series to date, which for those of us that have been reading it, but also read a lot of other books between releases, gives just enough catch up, to be able to dive straight in easily. Lorena (Sif the Syrian doctor's secret girlfriend) begs Sif to stay with her and not leave the island. Sif's wife has been found but she had another man's baby and was married to a fighter. Sif's wife cannot come to Scotland and will ruin Sif's chances and the boys' chances at citizenship. She sends a message to Sif, "Find someone to raise our kids and make sure they are kind." Island wedding destinations offer their own special kind of magic. No matter what part of the Caribbean you decide on for your destination wedding, you’re sure to have an experience that will stay with you forever. All-inclusive resorts allow you to leave the legwork to the professionals while you, your spouse-to-be, and your guests relax and enjoy the fun.
