About this deal

This case is something else and the Decker-White pairing could be both a dream and nightmare rolled into one. Good enough for me, but if we walk out of here now Talbott will just make us have lunch together or something, and I doubt you want that. The insomnia had been getting worse, and it was adding nothing positive to his already unpredictable temperament.

Long Shadows by David Baldacci - Pan Macmillan

Once we’d gotten over the reminder of the brain injury that he suffered plus the fact that he had to deal with taking on a new partner, the investigation consists largely of schlepping from one person’s place to the next, asking a series of questions, picking up a lead to the next person and questioning them. Together with the prospect of working with a new partner, Frederica White, Amos knows that this case will take all of his special skills to solve. His books are published in over 45 languages and in more than 80 countries, with 150 million copies sold worldwide. The plot in this one kept twisting and turning on every other page, and I wholeheartedly enjoyed the ride. The crowd here was large; Earl and Mary Lancaster were well-known and well-liked, and Sandy had made many friends at her school.T HE LETTER WAITING FOR DECKER was from the Cognitive Institute in Chicago, or CI as Decker and everyone else there referred to it. While White was still in her black suit with the white shirt, Decker had on khakis and a faded dark blue sweatshirt. The introduction of Frederica White will surely add something needed to the series, though it is hard to tell how Amos Decker will react.

Memory Man was a wonderful book with lots of twists and turns, so naturally I had to read the series. Long Shadows, the seventh book in David Baldacci’s Memory Man series, starts with a traumatic loss for FBI consultant Amos Decker. He was in his forties and walked with a swagger more befitting a Navy SEAL than a luxury community rental cop gatekeeper. But getting a handle on exactly how things played out and, just as importantly, who was responsible will prove difficult to ascertain. We already knew Jamison and how she has slowly worn-down Decker’s rough anti-social personality over the last three books or so.

While the bodyguard was found shot, the judge was brutally stabbed, raising the possibility of two separate killers and motives.
