In all, this isn't a must-read - I've literally been picking away at it for years - but it reads well enough and definitely gives you the inside scoop on what went down throughout large swaths of Bey's career (the breakup of Destiny's Child in its various formats is definitely a highlight).

While songs like “Run The World (Girls)”, “Formation” and “Freakum Dress” were designed to empower, tracks such as “1+1”, “If I Were A Boy” and “Pray You Catch Me” were more vulnerable, the often infallible Queen Bey laying out her insecurities for the world to see. Taraborrelli doesn't really give us any new information but what he does, is to create a timeline of events that allows her fans proper perspective on Beyonce's evolution from child prodigy to superstardom.I think, the last song of hers which I really enjoyed was Survivor, which came out about 16 years ago. I guess since it’s a book about her life it’s connected to what made her who she was, but it spent a little *too* much time on it in some parts. In her albums you get the huge exploration of marriage, but also sisterhood, and friendship…and she's layering them really masterfully and purposefully. Like Bey and J, and like all of us Marrieds, you and your own J — Jason — have been through some tough times, which I know because you wrote about it in The Bitch is Back!
