Carrie always seems to be there to help Sam out with Bobby. They are becoming close but Sam has a fear that if he loves her then if he loses her he won't be able to cope with the hurt. He is still healing from his sister's death. Having read all the books in the series, always nice catching up with familiar characters and old friends. They are growing up fast, always expanding by marrying and adding more babies with every book. They always seem to gather around the dining room table, so assume it has lots of extensions. Sam Winslow is new to Chesapeake Shores, the web tech for the town newspaper. He'd barely arrived in town when he his sister and brother-in-law were killed in an accident, leaving him as guardian of his six year old nephew Bobby. As a formerly foot loose and fancy free bachelor, Sam is feeling overwhelmed by the thought of being an instant father. Dashing in to the pub to grab some take out, leaving Bobby snoozing in the car (though he keeps a close eye on the car while doing it), Sam runs afoul of Carrie. Their initial meeting has sparks flying, with each of them doing some judging of the other. Things get better once they both calm down.

This is the 13th book in this Chesapeake Shore series. I have read 4 or 5 books in the series, but lost interest after a while. Well a few weeks ago, I received this book along with another book, as a part of a free gift for me. I love free gifts especially if they are books. Fantastic location! This well-loved and looked-after, three double-bedroom terraced property, is situated off the popular Uppingham Road/Humberstone Road, within walking distance to local amenities, shops, parks, bus routes and medical centre. Bedroom One - 2.13m x 4.73m (6'11" x 15'6") - Master Bedroom having central heating radiator and double glazed dual aspect windows and access to modern en suite. For all, you Christmas book fans, look for the new Chesapeake Shores novella, Bayside Retreat, coming Oct 27, and of course the upcoming Hallmark channel featuring Chesapeake Shores series and the exciting line up of stars.

Other Books in Chesapeake Shores Series

Always a pleasure to read a novel by Sherryl Woods! The way she interweaves a huge family and makes them all a part of the book is magical and makes you wish YOU were one of the O'Brien's living in Chesapeake Shores. :) It was pretty predictable from beginning to the end, boy meets girl, a few ups and downs in between, and finally a "Happily Ever After" ending. The one Pro of this book which I appreciated was the romance was light-hearted. No X-rated romance. My favorite kind of romance novels.

Until her Uncle who runs O'Briens pub suggested she open a day care. She watched most of the O'Brien children as it was, she was good at it, and they all loved her. The friends are the only things I've brought with me through the years that really matter," she says. "I could probably live without one more chintz teacup, another tin-litho sandpail or another snowglobe, but I need those friends." The theme of enduring friendships and families is always central to Sherryl's books, including her latest Chesapeake Shores series — THE INN AT EAGLE POINT, FLOWERS ON MAIN and HARBOR LIGHTS. New York Times bestselling author Sherryl Woods sweeps readers away with the story of a beloved member of the O’Brien family as she claims the life she’s always dreamed of.

Customer reviews

I have never been disappointed with any book by Sherryl Woods that I have read and this one is no different. So make sure you are comfortable when you start this book as you won't get up until you have read the last word. Fans of Debbie Macomber’s Cedar Cove series, Susan Wiggs’ Lakeshore Chronicles, and Mariah Stewart's Chesapeake Diaries will enjoy Woods' small town charm, family, friendship, home, and light romance. So, despite Carrie's assurances that her daycare would not be competition for Julie's, did it turn out to be the case that it was? Did enough families switch to Carrie's daycare that Julie's business went downhill? Or did Lucy decide she didn't want ownership in a business that was her mom's dream--and might not be hers? We saw early on that Julie said Lucy didn't always have the discipline skills Julie felt she needed to run the daycare.
