About this deal

I can’t believe Wahoo is still sending out these defective units as replacements and expecting their customers to be happy with that. While I know it would be expensive to replace the defective unit with new fixed ones, sending out garbage replacements as well as the whole saga of the original defective units has done Wahoo irreparable damage to their reputation IMHO. App Compatibility: Every app out there basically (Zwift, TrainerRoad, Rouvy, Road Grand Tours, SufferFest, Kinomap, etc…) The Suito sits between the top-end Direto XR and budget Zumo in Elite’s range of direct drive smart trainers. One benefit of a traditional setup like this is that it’s nice and compact when folded down and takes little time to drop your bike into place (although, unlike a direct-drive trainer, the wheel-on design may wear down your rear tyre).

It was good to see that power outputs are similar to those found on my Garmin Vector power pedals, and was usually within a couple of percent at the most, so I had no issue with power read outs. The H3 sits at the top of Saris’s smart trainer range and builds on the popular H2. Reducing the noise levels was one of Saris’s top priorities and it’s certainly achieved good things with the H3 – at just 61dB at 20mph (measured on an iPhone app), it’s very quiet indeed. The maximum resistance of 1,350w is worth a little more of a consideration than that of the other turbos on test as it’s not a number that’s unfeasible for amateur riders to top. But as an amateur rider who’s never once topped 1,300w, I still haven’t been able to test its limits. As you can see, these are pretty darn close – at least to the Stages LR (which is the dual-sided Stages that’s been proven pretty reliable compared to many other power meters I’ve tested). The SRM EXAKT seems oddly a bit low (usually if/when I see it err, it goes high). At this price, it’s a little disappointing that a cassette isn’t included and, at 21.5kg with no carry handle, it’s not the easiest thing to move about. Overall, however, the Neo 2T is about as good as it gets in terms of performance. Serious esports racers may want to use an on-bike power meter to drive their avatar, though, as the Zumo’s internal power meter consistently read a few per cent lower than expected.

The Neo 2T is Tacx’s top-of-the-range smart trainer, and it’s priced accordingly. It looks like a spaceship and its spec and performance are among the best out there. You can see the peak 1-second power here about 75w over the next nearest value from the SRM pedals. Now differences at peak sprint power are normal amongst any power meter or trainer test – you’ll usually see say 10-40w differences for 1-second recording. Some of that is really just timing aspects, in terms of transmission and head unit recording. Just the way it is. But 100w? Well, that’s a wee bit much. Bluetooth Smart Power Meter Profile: This broadcasts as a standard BLE power meter with speed as well, including cadence. However, the Elite Suito comes with a cassette and is significantly louder than other direct-drive smart trainers. The power accuracies of each trainer fall with half a percent of each other, and both trainers have similar maximum power readings and simulated gradients. Finally, Clever can only ship what Wahoo gives. Clever works based on the dates Wahoo gives, and then usually adds even a bit more buffer. Unfortunately, most companies have slowed manufacturing unfortunately. 🙁

KICKR CORE with 1-Year Zwift Membership | Wahoo Fitness UK

The most basic turbo trainers, these use magnetic resistance to imitate the feel of the road, and are generally the cheapest due to their simplicity. There are, however, few smart versions available. Usually supplied with a manual resistance changer, their smart capabilities aren't as varied as others and can't be programmed to replicate a certain gradient or power resistance. In having swept up on the fundamentals, it’s fair to ask whether it goes on to clear any of the higher bars – is there any point in buying a more expensive model? Sadly, yes there is. But only for people with quite specific use cases. Compared to other manufactures, Wahoo has a relatively small array of offerings. But in terms of quality and price point, they have all the major bases covered.
