About this deal

Let’s clear something up right here right now, the is no correlation between price and quality when it come to scotch, and the proof is quite simple. NOSE: Fresh summer fruit salad drizzled with lavender honey, wildflowers with hints of cream and spices. The nose is quite sweet and delicate. Finish: for the first year-plus, this would have been quite the continuation of a muted finish of a muted nose and palate. NOW, it continues a very sweet and sour citrusy and fruity-of-grape palate for a medium-long finish. 2 more points for this now, than before,...also

Cragganmore distillery is a Scotch whisky distillery situated in the village of Ballindalloch in Banffshire, Scotland. With its natural tastes emerging through a nice smooth burn, it seemed just the right Scotch for being outdoors for days on a wilderness adventure. Cragganmore range includes this 12 year old single malt and Distillers Edition. They’ve had special bottlings, such as the 14 year old for Friends of the Classic Malts. Cragganmore 12YO has been matured in second fill bourbon barrels and like mentioned, the whisky is slightly smoky. This malt is also a component for Johnnie Walker, Old Parr and White Horse blended whiskies. By The River (Spey) Records the default button state of the corresponding category & the status of CCPA. It works only in coordination with the primary cookie.Cragganmore distillery is located in Ballindalloch, Speyside. It sits by the River Spey and it’s also near to the Strathspey railway line, both important factors when the distillery location was decided. The distillery takes its name from the mountain in whose shadow it sits. The first time I heard the term used in a wine store, the salesman was using it on a customer, I almost busted out laughing right in front of them. The customer must have felt like a jerk, afterall his mere pallet only qualified for the ‘entry level’ wine, he probably walked away thinking that his holiday dinner at home which he was buying the wine for was – well just an entry level dinner too, poor guy. Taste: Good translation to the palate bringing across malty nuts and toffee alongside honey and just the slightest hint of barrel char and/or smoke. Relatively ‘chewy’ despite its 40% ABV and with a dash of damp earth and minerality which make for a welcome clean taste. The Cragganmore 12 yo is a sherried expression that is lightly peated. The Cragganmore range also has a Distillers Edition, and I have seen a 25 yo as well. There are various independent bottlings from Cragganmore available too.

But the connotation is that ‘entry level’ is buttom shelf, the cheap stuff, and it most certainly implies that you are an amateur consumer who doesn’t know anything and as such you get and deserve the ‘entry level’ and/or you’re just cheap..lol, And the marketing departments gets to run the guilt trip on you to get you to dump more and more money on so called medium and high level products that are in fact in almost all case no better than the entry level stuff. What a great marketing stratagy, you gotta hand it to them. This would be fantastic at a higher abv, but that can be experienced in the several special editions or independent bottlings available for those willing to do some sleuthing. Altogether it’s a solid bottle to start off a beginner’s journey into single malts. Cragganmore 12 YO is one of Diageo's six "Classic Malts of Scotland". The reviewed 200 ml bottle has been open 2 years, is 2/3rds full, and preserved with inert gas for the last 15 months.
