About this deal

The EQ Score is designed to MAXIMIZE the Score WHILE fitting the Harman target curve with a fixed complexity. the 58X is incredibly easy to get pumping, so I wouldn’t worry about it much. Good pairings include the iFi Zen, FiiO K5 Pro, FiiO BTR3K, E10K/ K3, DragonFly Red, etc. As with the HD6XX, the high frequency of the HD58X could be a bit more intense. It avoids the sibilants very well and has a good resolution, but I see some quality advantages with the HD6XX, which are not decisive. In comparison, the lower trebles are a bit more reduced, so that the upper mids are more effective than on the HD6XX. This, in addition to comfort, are what makes the 58X perfect for long listening or mixing sessions. Reference

However, if you already own a HD558/598 or any of the latest iterations of those headphones, the HD600/HD650 is still the direct upgrade. Existing fans of the HD580/HD600/HD650 need not apply here. I joined Sennheiser in 1991 as a Development Engineer, and my very first product was the HD 598,” recalls Axel Grell, Head of Portfolio Management Audiophile, Sennheiser. “This was the beginning of our audiophile collection and set the standard in the field of audiophile headphone technology. I am honored by the passion and interest the Massdrop community maintains in our product line, and I am happy to see the HD 58X come to life for the enjoyment of a new generation of audiophiles.” Whatever Sennheiser did to make the bass work as well as it does on the HD58X, has also sacrificed the best aspects of the HD6X0. I'm not sure if this is a driver issue, a tuning issue or a combination of both. Clamping force is good, there’s hardly any headband dig, and you can wear them for long hours with minimal adjustments. You can support Stu here. Neutrality: HD598 > DT990 > HD58X > HD650 (I felt the HD 650 tends to gravitate towards darkness, whereas the HD598 were the most neutral and flat sounding in the bunch with the HD 58X somewhere in the middle with its liveliness in its sound signature) Then after a few years he launched the HD 580 Jubilee which was basically a HD 600 and then later on released the HD 650, which even to this date, is used as a benchmarking tool for all other headphones. Compared to HD-650, the HD58X was noticeably louder so direct comparison was not possible. I was too lazy to set up dual headphone amps & DACs (to EQ each separately) with volume matching for this review. Will do that for future ones. Very easy, this is just an amazing recommendation for anyone wanting to get their first pair of audiophile headphones for under 200 dollars. There a few minors flaws but considering the price, it's okay

Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee Headphones Hit - Forbes Drop’s Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee Headphones Hit - Forbes

Soundstage: HD598 > HD650 = HD58X > DT990 (again I felt the DT990 were slightly less wide than the HD 58X) Soundstage is one of the most peculiar things about the 58X, and something I was fairly surprised by. Only when efficiency numbers are given in dB/mW but when sensitivity is listed in dB/V it does not matter. If you’re super sensitive to it as I am, you’ll find that it sits nicely in the mix without sounding essy or sibilant; an issue in other headphones like the 400 series from HIFIMAN, M40x, DEVA, etc.
