Product Information

If taking any medication, please wait one hour before taking Ispaghula Husk Orange. Pregnant or lactating women should consult a doctor before taking this product. Contains a source of phenylalanine. Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied diet. If symptoms persist longer than 3 days, the patient should consult a doctor or healthcare professional. If there have been no bowel movements after 3 days of treatment a doctor or healthcare professional should be consulted. (See section 4.4 'Special warnings and precautions for use') A small amount of flatulence and abdominal distension may sometimes occur during the first few days of treatment, but should diminish during continued treatment. Abdominal distension and risk of intestinal or oesophageal obstruction and faecal impaction may occur, particularly if swallowed with insufficient fluid.

If there has been no bowel movement after three days of treatment a doctor or healthcare professional should be consulted. (See section 4.4 'Special warnings and precautions for use')It is recommended to assess clinically the possible sensitization of individuals at risk and, if justified, to perform specific diagnostic tests. Ispaghula Husk Orange - (30 sachets) is a source of water-soluble fibre in the form of granules for oral suspension as well as a bulking agent in a pleasing orange flavoured food supplement. You may wish to include some foods in your diet that contain sorbitol. Sorbitol is a naturally occurring sugar. It is not digested very well and draws water into your bowel which has an effect of softening stools. Fruits (and their juices) that have a high sorbitol content include apples, apricots, gooseberries, grapes (and raisins), peaches, pears, plums, prunes, raspberries and strawberries.

If you experience any other symptoms which you think may be due to this medicine, speak with your doctor or pharmacist. Take care to avoid inhaling the powder when you're preparing the medicine. Breathing in the powder can lead to allergic reactions. Children aged 6 to 12 years: Take half to one level 5 ml spoonful depending on size and age, morning and evening, preferably after meals. The product should be taken during the day at least ½ to 1 hour before or after intake of other medicines and should not be taken immediately before going to sleep. Most adults can take Fybogel, including women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Most children can also take Fybogel, but you must not give it to a child under six years of age unless it's been prescribed by a doctor. If abdominal pain occurs or in cases of any irregularity of faeces, the use of psyllium seed should be discontinued and medical advice must be sought.
