Nachmund carries on the pedigree established by the previous new edition Kill Team releases: good miniatures, good scenery, and a good book. There’s a lot in here for people to enjoy. It’s as if a step of two were completely missed from print. It’s annoying they’ve been missed off, but not the end of the world. However, there is another issue. Given that the contents of Chalnath and Nachmund are very similar, we can safely assume this formula will likely be carried across into future Kill Team expansions, so buyers will be safe in the knowledge that they are making a reasonable saving of around 30% when buying a complete box instead of all the individual parts separately.

Beneath the plastic lies a divider, designed to keep the pointy bits of sprue from scratching up the stuff beneath.

Is the Box Worth it?

PS: For scenery discounts, I recommend cold-calling to any and all FLGS or GW store in your city, and ask them if anyone is looking to split the new "KillTeam" boxes (Nachmund, Octarius, etc). They will, invariably, tell you "yes", and re-sell you the parts you wish separately, without accomplices needed. Chaos Space Marine kill teams give you a ton of customization within the matched play rules, with tons of weapon and loadout options, psychic powers, marks of chaos, and a ton of ploys and equipment. They’re a versatile force, and their Spec Ops rules reflect their dark purposes. Send a Message has your team hunting down and killing enemy leaders and sowing fear and chaos in the enemy ranks (killing an enemy Leader operative is part of the process). Complete this one and you get extra AP and Requisition plus another Asset. The other option is Tainted Journey, which sees your team showing terror and desecrating the enemy’s holy places and shrines. Plant your banners and Seize some Ground and you get more rare equipment, some extra RP, and the ability to and another asset. Richard Butler: We wanted to expand on the idea of frontier worlds, where brave colonists and foolhardy pioneers have set up Imperial outposts and settlements, surviving dangerous territories and climates. At the same time, we wanted to produce genuinely useful gaming terrain. Finish off your outpost with a Vox-Antenna and Auspex Shrine. The Voidscarred suffer from the same malady as the Legionary Operatives: a lot of parts in a lot of places. The box includes two armies – the spectral Nighthaunt and the brutal Daughters of Khaine . Along with a selection of units that make an ideal starting army or reinforcements to an existing one, there are new models for both factions – the Scriptor Mortis and Craventhrone Guard for the Nighthaunt and the High Gladiatrix for the Daughters of Khaine.Plus the short story collection Ahriman: Exodus , and the audiobook Ahriman: Key of Infinity . It’s quite the epic tale! If you’re looking to furnish a full sized 44″ x 60″ table with this one box, then you’re going to be disappointed. There just isn’t enough terrain in here to do that and that’s not what it’s being sold as. The Battlezone: Fronteris Nachmund box set has a decent amount of terrain inside, but how much cash will it save you value-wise? The Power Relay Substation gives players the option of performing the Salvage Power Core action, which can net you an extra CP on a 3+. Whilst the Chaos rules generally exploit the various themes surrounding the differnet Chaos Gods, the Corsair rules tend to focus around how nimble the Aeldari are, focusing on movement and their general ability to traverse the board at lightning speed. It must have banks of humming generators and capacitors within its hull to feed its power-hungry weapon, ready to lay waste to anything in its sights…

Accessories

The vast amount of options for each miniature is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, all the different parts available allow you to personalise your figures to your heart’s content, and will leave you with plenty of bits left over for future projects. So far, the newest edition of Kill Team and its expansions have been fairly well-received by the community. Whilst the new models on offer have left painters and gamers alike drooling, some of the rules have received a bit of a mixed reception – which you can read about in our original Octarius review – but with each expansion, some of these are slowly ironed out, which is good. Whilst the Corsairs appear to have no such platform or equivalent included. they do appear to be slightly larger models than Guardians, with more detail included.
