About this deal

It’s when it comes to the action that this film really impresses, with some pulse-pounding fight sequences, and some thrilling stunts. As far as encoding goes, I think it's unfair to criticize Eureka since they've used and provided other companies with some of the same scans, audio, and extra material.

and Royal Warriors (1986) kick-off the series with Michelle Yeoh (EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE) in the lead role of a female police officer, alongside Cynthia Rothrock as two tough-as-nails cops. They’re refreshingly honest about some of the films’ shortcomings and I also appreciated their interesting dissection of Yen’s career and its ups and downs in their part IV commentary. Working with Detective Constable Kat Presented as part of Eureka Classics range in its UK debut on Blu-ray presented from a brand new 2K restoration.

JJ Bona on Jake Gyllenhaal goes full on Jackie Chan in the Trailer for Doug Liman’s ‘Road House’ also starring Conor McGregor lol Just watch where you say that.If you’ve read some of my recent Hong Kong action reviews, you might have read a familiar lament about disjointed tones, where goofy comedy seems out of place against the brutality and violence. He also shares stories about first discovering Michelle Yeoh and recounts some of the essential films he was involved with, including I Love Maria (aka Roboforce). It gets progressively more brutal as the film unfolds, at points getting as gory as an eighties video nasty.

This means Yeung does indeed get involved in the hunt for the criminals and, as you might guess, chaos ensues. If a term is more obscure than average then I try to explain it, same with jokes (sometimes in parenthesis). Along the way, they come across Seattle dock worker Luk (Yuen Yat-chor), who is mistaken for a suspect and taken into custody. It’s actually the technical side of the release which is disappointing here, with the distorted Cantonese audio bad enough to be a distraction. But even the silly moments like the handcuff scene are well done and have that comedic rhythm and timing that can only be found in HK cinema. The Audio Commentary by Frank Djeng on the HK Version continues the critic’s great deep dive into the world of In the Line of Duty. In the Line of Duty III and In the Line of Duty IV are out on 20th March on Blu-Ray in the UK, released by Eureka as part of their Eureka Classics series. In Hong Kong, Yeung Lai-Ching is a trainee cop who so impresses her superiors, dealing with an armed robber on the beat, that she immediately gets transferred to the Serious Crime Unit, much to the chagrin of her uncle, who is the easy going head of the unit. There is an edge to the film that many will be shocked by that do not remember the days of yore and the work of directors Tsui Hark, John Woo, and Ringo Lam.
