Anna hops onto the grass to run, fellow runners chatting away to her as we go and warning her about any upcoming glass or undesirables on the route. It’s funny, and heartwarming and will give you a better insight into America from the eyes of an outsider.

I found it a little hard to get into at first but once the journey starts and Lee beings walking across Spain it’ll awaken your sense of adventure. The core things that came out were things like – they wanted to be planet protectors, they wanted to be change makers, and they want to be adventurers.In the end I set out to run the distance of 100 marathons and fell short of that, covering 90 instead. Past adventures supported through the AQ Grant have all been different in length and experience but what they have in common is that they have been meaningful to the grantee and are something that they wouldn’t have done without the support of the AQ grant. Feet are quite the complex machine, with over 7,000 nerve endings in each sole and 26 bones in each foot. I wanted to bring it to life for them, show them that I’m a real human being and I’m really doing it, and it’s hard and it’s awesome and all those things,’ she says.

Having the support of Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Rangers and all the incredible Girlguiding leaders, hosting me and cheering me on along the way was fantastic. If you opt for Notes From A Big Countrythen be aware that some of the materials from the other books are repeated in one. That makes me think about how often we all cover those emotions to the outside world and that we often have no idea what is going on in someone else's orbit.

Anna encouraged supporters to help her out on the way, either by offering to transport her bag for a stage of the run, giving her somewhere to stay for the night or running alongside her. I saw Jamie and Anna talk during their book tour leg in Vancouver a couple of years ago and was dying to read their books afterwards.
