About this deal

Despite some rough edges, the Jim Beam Double Oak offers an intriguing experience with its smoky and oak-char profile. Notice first that the label does not read “double wood,” which would indicate a more common process in which a spirit is aged in one sort of barrel and then matured in a different sort (usually an oak barrel and then a wine cask) to add another layer of complexity to the flavor profile. Excerpt: The taste is chewy, thick, and spicy with black pepper, a touch of ginger, honey, molasses, dark chocolate, and pipe tobacco. We have the right to ask you to provide proof of your age and/or to provide further identification to prevent underage usage and/or for any other legal or legitimate purpose.

The Service and your account are for your personal use only and may not be shared with any third parties. You’d expect very intense oak flavors—it is, after all, a rather puerile experiment, like those corn chips with “extreme” flavor additives or, I don’t know, a young gearhead who thinks that if six cylinders are good, twelve must be twice as good. I tend to kvetch that so many bourbons are too sweet, but in my best Goldilocks impression, I find this one too dry.Jim Beam Double Oak is presented in premium packaging featuring embossed glass and textured labelling. But what would prevent them (legally speaking) from just taking a 2-year proto-Beam and dumping and transferring it then for 2-more years in another new barrel? Blended by Fred Noe’s son, Freddie, both iterations of this limited-edition whiskey have sold out soon after their release. Among them was Jacob Beam who used his father's whiskey recipe to distill corn into a new, sweeter kind of whiskey.A gentle smear of marzipan towards the very end and some more burnt caramel round off the complex scent.
