There are some additional workarounds possible though - adding something to transfer the clamping force required to the masonry behind so that the screw doesn't deflect downwards under the load of the mounted item and the board doesn't deflect towards the wall due to the clamping force. I've used appropriate lengths of 15mm copper pipe or, for heavier loads such as large radiators, slices of a broom handle (with a hole drilled through the centre) to do this and it works perfectly fine. Obtaining a secure fixing to a drylined wall is notoriously difficult. Corefix solves this problem by securing the load to the solid wall behind, and not to the plasterboard, so unlike traditional frame fixings won’t deform or crush the plasterboard into the void. I used them to hang a 42kg vertical radiator on a drylined wall and the fittings were very good, with nice simple instructions. I was most impressed with the simplicity of the fittings, they’re very effective and strong, I dropped the rad on and they didn’t move at all.
Drill a hole through the plasterboard and into the solid wall behind, ensuring the total depth is a minimum of 100mm. Initially designed for hanging heavy kitchen cabinets, it is now widely used in the plumbing and heating, kitchen, bathroom and DIY sectors. Corefix can be installed in less than one minute, without the need for specialist tools – all you need is a 10mm masonry drill, hammer, and a screwdriver: Remove any dust or debris from the hole before gently tapping the Corefix plug into place until the flange sits against the plasterboard.

mark the drill shaft depth at that point and measure it... use a bit of electrical tape (watch it, the drill bit maybe hot) got that! It’s the best fixing of its kind that I’ve used. They are very strong and didn’t distort the plasterboard on the surface at all. I only used them on medium weight items, not on rads/boilers yet, but I’m sure they’ll be up to the job. This is going to depend on the type of plasterboard wall you are dealing with and the quality of the plasterboard fixings to be used. If your plasterboard wall is a dot and dab wall, then yes definitely you can fix your kitchen wall cabinets to that wall, but only if you use the correct type of wall fixings and for that we recommend Corefix. Corefix is a unique heavy duty fixing system for dot and dab wall construction, a method used almost exclusively in the UK’s new build homes. I saw Corefix at Installer2018, and was very impressed with the design and thought it was reasonably priced. It is very effective and gives fantastic support, bridging the gap on a dot and dab wall and saving time because you don’t need extra support. I was particularly impressed by how solid the fixings held considering they were supporting a boiler, which was 35mm away from the surface it was fixing onto.

A drill, hammer and screwdriver are all that are needed. This is the nill strength bit (plaster board and plaster dab or air gap) Add this length to your normal size screw and buy them... the longer ones!
