I begged! I pleaded! Then thank Tom Cruise a friend got tired of me whiningtook pity on my poor soul and gifted me a copy. Born in Ciechanow Poland,Ania Ahlbornhas always been drawn to the dark, mysterious, and morbid side of life. Her earliest childhood memory is of crawling through a hole in the chain-link fence that separated her family home from a large wooded cemetery, where she’d spend hours among the headstones, breaking up bouquets of silk flowers so everyone had their equal share. The skill of Ahlborn's writing was on full display in the intricacies of the familial relationships. The relationship between Michael and his sister, Misty, was heartbreaking and that between Michael and his brother, Reb, the most disturbing and dysfunctional of all. What a tangled web was woven. Brotherfollows a teenager determined to break from his family’s unconventional—and deeply disturbing—traditions. mediocre entertainment at its best?? like, all things considered this book did what it came to do, BUT also...eh.

See what just happened there???? That’s what I felt like while reading this book. I got myself all geared up for a good slasher story and then WHAM! Totally blindsided. I received a copy of the ebook Brother from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I am reviewing in honor of the 7th annual Women in Horror Month. There’s no better time than October to read a really terrifying book, and I’m so glad I started my Halloween month with Ania Ahlborn’s newest horror novel, BROTHER. It far exceeded my quota for suspense, chills, and gore. Let’s get right to the meat of it. Them’s the perks of livin’ out in the wilderness, Momma had once said. You scream and scream and ain’t nobody around to hear.”
