A brimming basket of fresh fruit on the nose: apple, pear and hints of richer, tropical fruit too. Soon some Sherried elements emerge, including raisins, dark fudge and nutmeg. The wine casks really come into their own on the palate, balancing the slightly drying influence of oak tannins with the return of those sweetly luscious fruits alongside some pot still spice. Water teases out more of that tropical fruit element – pineapple, kiwi – and the overall impression is of an opulent, harmonious whiskey that carries its extra strength beautifully.Without prejudice to the section Liability below, the Service may be temporarily unavailable during maintenance, updates, etc. We shall make reasonable efforts to inform you of any unavailability due to maintenance or updates. Jameson United is a limited edition whisky that has been created by combining two of Ireland's most passion-filled exports: Jameson Irish whiskey and the world's most popular game, football. The result is a uniquely flavoured spirit that pays tribute to both of these great traditions. The brand is giving the upscale whiskey’s proof a 12-point bump, moving the ABV from 40% to 46%, removing the need for chill-filtration and resulting in a whiskey with a richer mouthfeel and more depth of flavor.Gold Spot is a 9-year-old whiskey – referring to the youngest spirit in the blend – but the wine cask-matured whiskeys have aged for up to 16 years. Even the bottling strength of 51.4% ABV is a nod to history: equivalent to ‘10 under proof’ according to the system used in Mitchell & Son’s old price lists – another factor that makes Gold Spot a thoroughly modern Irish whiskey, but one with its roots buried deep in the heritage of whiskey, wine and the Mitchell family. Our Service is an online platform which provides Members with information (e.g. bottle facts, market-indices, market values and prices) on (mostly) whisky and allows Members to add information to the platform. We do not sell, nor does the Service provide any option to buy, any alcoholic products. Accounting for the biggest share of the global Irish Whiskey Market, Jameson Whiskey is available in more than 120 different countries. That’s more than a staggering 20 million bottles a year. Partnering up with the likes of John Power & Son and the Cork Distillery Company in 1966, Jameson Irish Whiskey have in turn become a member of a new Irish Distillers triumvirate. Then in 1972, getting Bushmills on board gave the company a stronghold on the production of Irish Whiskey running all the way up to the 1980s. They then parted ways in 1988 when Pernod Ricard took over Jameson Whiskey, and Bushmills Whiskey was eventually sold in 2005 to Diageo. Aided by Jameson’s distillers, Robert Mitchell would regularly taste the maturing whiskeys, assessing their ageing potential and marking this with a daub of paint on each cask: a blue spot for one destined to be a 7-year-old whiskey, green for 10, yellow for 12 and red for 15. And so, the Spot family of whiskeys was born.
