About this deal

But whatever right? Cause when he was with Chelsea and the kids . . . that’s THE BEST part! He got them out of trouble, gave them advice, took care of them, accompanied them to One Direction concert, and a lot more. The kids were my everything. Rory (9), Rosaleen (7), and Regan (2) were my favorite. Some women can handle a nameless one-night stand or a casual hookup. But honestly, most can’t. As long as they understand sex is the only thing I have to offer, the only thing I want in return, I’m up for a repeat. The minute their eyes get that soft, sentimental—or worse—wounded look, I’m out. I don’t have time for games, don’t have any interest in talking about where this could go.

Now these children, they are complete handful, but they also show that the juice is worth the squeeze. This isn't the life Chelsea or Jake planned for themselves, but these kids add so much value and depth to them. They make them better people. I was so impressed with each of their characters and the development behind their personalities. The romance, while almost secondary to the story, was perfectly balanced with it though. I'm not sure if that makes sense but it does in my head. What I mean is, it wasn't ALL romance, but there was just the right amount of it to bring this book from good to absolutely fantastic. There's nothing better for me than to watch the "asshole" fall and fall heard for a woman when he least expects it, and watching Jake fall for Chelsea was perfection. Chelsea’s entire life was changed when her brother and his wife died leaving behind six children between the age of baby and teen. Now instead of grad school, she’s changing diapers and taking kids to practices and school events. Guys aren’t even on her radar right now. Until Jake comes into the picture. Chelsea and Jake were wonderful together. I loved the build up when it came to their relationship. Mixing a ‘Mother Teresa’ with a defense attorney gives you that hard to put down flavor of something extraordinary. I didn’t want SUSTAINED to end. The overall chemistry between the couple and the six kids kept me captivated. I like Chelsea too. I respect how she uprooted herself to care for her brother’s children even if she’s way over her head. She was loving and patience with them, and took a lot of crap from them.Like most Emma Chase heroes, Jake is not immune from his epic episode of douchebaggery. But ever the overachiever, he succeeds in redeeming himself in an admirable fashion. although i really liked this book, i just found the romance a little meh. i didn't really feel Chelsea and Jake's chemistry in the beginning because of the OW drama and how he was still down to hook up with OW just because he hadn't had sex in 2 weeks. this drama was unnecessary because it's never even discussed and Jake never thinks about the OW again later on, like it never happened. and honestly, i wasn't interested in their romance until he broke up with her at the end because he was all like i don't deserve you, you and the kids weren't part of the plan, im a bad man because im defending an abuser blah blah blah. i liked Jake's relationship with the kids and his character development more than the romance. Chelsea was portrayed only through Jake’s eyes and it was a weird experience for me to not have her point of view but I got over it. O-kay. I take a breath and force the words from my lungs. Turns out a woman I nailed last month has syphilis. I have to get tested.

We are privy to his thoughts throughout and well, he was a simple man, but a funny one. I loved being in his head because I was always gearing up for a laugh. I don’t know how she does it but I love Jake even more than I loved Drew from her Twisted series. Jake is ‘harsh, cynical, brutally honest, yes - but never sappy.’ Reading the story from his pov was EXCELLENT. He’s met his match with Chelsea who’s kind hearted and strong-mind. She gave up her life to keep her six nieces and nephews from becoming orphans after their parents were killed two months prior in a car accident. Sustained was entertaining, funny and at the same time heartwarming (yes I got tingles in my chest instead of just uh… elsewhere :p ). Definitely recommended to those looking for a sexy funny hero with a soft side.So Jake and Chelsea, you know the ones I am talking about. The young sister who became the legal guardian to her six siblings and the awesome guy who fell in love with them all. Awwww, I swear, I just love it! One of the most amazing and unique things about Emma Chase is her ability to write an authentic male POV, and this book is straight up told in Jake's POV. And no one writes a male POV in romance better than Emma Chase. Her heroes are straight shooters and funny and sometimes a bit inappropriate. But in a good fun way! Best of all, I loved the kids. Riley, Rory, Raymond, Rosaleen, Regan, and Ronan. They are all so lovable! My favorite is Regan. Let her say "hi" all the time and it will make you giggle. Lol.
