The CDJ-3000, Pioneer's flagship multiplayer, is now fully compatible with Algoriddim's DJ programme, djay PRO AI for Mac, via the USB-HID*1 control feature.

I compared some of the CDJ-1000’s vinyl-like features against a Vestax PDX-2000 turntable to see just how close it comes in turntable emulation. I only used songs that I had on both formats so I could compare the results of the same source material. The CDJ-500S (also known as the CDJ-700S in the United States) released in 1997, was a smaller version of the CDJ-500. It marked the first inclusion of an anti-skip system. Nowadays, the CDJ-2000NXS2 is the king of the booth. Large-scale festivals and clubs all over the world hold a set of “Nexus” or “Nexus Two” players. Effectively the mark 2 model of the original, the CDJ-500II (and the similar CDJ-500ii Limited) featured minor improvements. It’s performance was slightly faster, it had an adjustable “loop out” point (another industry first), and the max loop length was increased to ten minutes. CDJ-500S and CDJ-700S The CDJ-1000 (retroactively known as the MK1 after the release of MK2) was introduced in 2001. Featuring "Vinyl Mode" which dramatically improved jog wheel performance, the CDJ-1000 was generally accepted as the first CD player that could accurately emulate a vinyl turntable - including the ability to scratch - soon established the CDJ-1000 as an industry standard for DJs. [2] An updated version of the CDJ-1000, the CDJ-1000 MK2 was released in July 2003 with additional features like an improved jog wheel and faster response time than in the original model. The product was discontinued in 2006 when the MK3 was introduced into the market.

As part of its marketing strategy, Pioneer had equipped several noted DJs with the new unit, including Sander Kleinenberg. The CDJ-3000's advanced interface lets you manipulate scratching, loops, Hot Cues, and more. The CDJ-400 was the first model introduced by Pioneer that could be used as either a MIDI or native (HID) controller for DJ software such as Traktor or Serato, without the need for timecode. You could also switch from controller to CDJ mode without interrupting the music. This can only be answered on a case-by-case basis. On a tighter budget, the XDJ-700 (or older discontinued player) makes the most sense. If you are an event promoter and need to fulfill technical riders, you want the CDJ-2000NXS2 without question. If you happen to throw the largest festivals in the world, the rugged TOUR1 is up to the task.Pro DJ Link – a LAN (network) connection which allows you to share a music source across multiple players. The current king of the booth, the CDJ-2000NXS2 is literally the standard that other players reach for. This re-release of the original CDJ-2000NXS added modern features, and has a big focus on sound quality. Pioneer offers this more budget-friendly alternative to the CDJ/XDJ lineup. Audio files can now be shared and played on up to six CDJ-3000 units from USB devices and SD cards when syncing them with a six-channel mixer (e.g. DJM-V10), thanks to the Gigabit Ethernet connection for Pro DJ Link. There is also a lighting feature available that is connected to Pro DJ Link where sounds can be synchronised with lights. The media player can send phrase analysis information to rekordbox, which means the lighting effects can be controlled using an RB-DMX1 remote which is available separately. Jog wheel resistance was made adjustable to suit different styles of handling. Also, the unit was changed to handle SD card media (for storing cues and loops) as opposed to the earlier MMC format.. CDJ-800 (and MK2)While the price puts it out-of-range for many… the robust build, professional design, advanced feature set, and focus on sound quality show why it’s truly the industry standard player. A DJ setup in a nightclub, consisting of three CDJs (top), three turntables for vinyl records and a DJ mixer Pioneer probably started to realize that while they were established in the club market, they hadn’t released a true budget home-use CDJ since ’98. Thus was born the trusty CDJ-200. This replaced the CDJ-100s and was very similar in many ways. It still had three built-in sound effects: jet, wah, and zip, though the sound quality of these were improved. And, like its predecessor, the 200 did not support vinyl emulation. This is the first time Pioneer produced a CDJ that you couldn’t scratch on since 1998. The CDJ 900 was the first to introduce Pioneer users to “Slip Mode”, which wasn't even present in the CDJ-2000.
