If you screw and glue, this is a very strong assembly, just one draw side was replaced due to the wood being slightly twisted. Even if they are 1 x 2 I can’t figure out how you’re getting 7 in there… So I guess I need clarification on slat width and width of cross piece. It looks like the slats are 1×3 in your picture but I can’t figure out how your getting them in a 19 inch width.I would suggest once the basic outer unit is constructed that you make up all the shelves and locate those into the unit.
