How Handy is the V15 as a Handheld Vacuum Cleaner? On the surface the Dyson V15 Detect Absolute looks very similar to the V11 range, comprising the motor, 1-inch / 2.6cm color LCD display, the motor, which creates the suction, the cyclones that generate centrifugal force to ensure dust and dirt stay in the canister, and the 0.2-gallon / 0.75-liter dust bin at the top. Weighing in at 6.8 lb / 3.1kg, it's one of the larger, heavier cordless vacuums we’ve tested. Best accuracy achieved in Auto mode. Auto ramp feature in Auto mode only. With its wand attachment, the V15 Detect measures 49.6 by 10.5 by 9.8 inches (HLW). It weighs 6.8 pounds, which feels a bit heavy compared with my old 5.63-pound V8, but it's still easy to hold and use. Like the V10 and V11, the V15 Detect has a 0.2-gallon dustbin, up from the V8's 0.14-gallon capacity. Why a laser? The green laser is bright enough to show up under any lighting condition and it’s also bright enough to highlight any dirt; UV light, on the other hand, works best when it’s dark and it only highlights dust that reflects UV. In practice, the laser works brilliantly, clearly showing where you need to vacuum. It’s a really smart addition and Dyson is the only company to do this. It works like this: Simply clip it onto the suction tube and attach two attachments of your choice to the holder.The boost mode takes a lot of battery power. That’s why the runtime is relatively short. Since the auto mode (or medium mode) is usually sufficient even for coarse dirt, this won’t be a problem. How long does the dyson V15 take to charge?

On the front of the High Torque head is a slider that adjusts airflow through the head. You may well need to adjust this. On fairly deep carpet, anything other than minimum made the cleaner hard to push; on short pile carpet, I could go for the middle or Plus option. Your advantage: The battery lasts longer because the device is only activated when you vacuum. Manoeuvrability of the Cordless Vacuum Cleaner The anti-tangle hair screw tool, also new to this generation, is another standout attachment. The device starts immediately.However, one disadvantage of the Complete is that the Torque-Drive nozzle isn’t included. That means that the Complete is only suitable for hard floors.

The battery itself is small, so it fits easily on a bedside table or the like. Can you leave Dyson on charge all the time? I should point out that the medium reading is with a crevice tool attached; with a floor head, the cleaner goes into Auto mode, which will vary suction based on the level of dirt. The size of the Dyson floor vacuum is somewhat universal. No matter how tall you are, you shouldn't have any problems vacuuming. You can vacuum hard floors and all kinds of carpets with it. The Torque has an integrated anti-hair comb (conical brush) now. We’ll get more into detail about that later. The lighter and smaller the vacuum cleaner, the easier it is to handle. The powerful suction takes its toll here, though. The V15 Detect Absolute has three power levels, which can be selected using the button on top of the vacuum cleaner; and like other Dyson cordless vacuums, you can convert the V15 Detect Absolute into a handheld cleaner by removing the main wand and attaching any of the eight tools it comes with directly to the dust canister. While we can’t fault the suction of the V15 Detect - it collected all of the dirt and debris such as small stones and even a few leaves, along with human hair that had collected on the driver’s seat with ease, in handheld mode the vacuum is bulky. This meant we struggled to fully vacuum under the driver and passenger front seats, as well in the storage areas on the center console, which frequently attract dust and debris.TheV15 Detect ships with two cleaning heads; the Laser Slim Fluffy cleaner head, which has a soft brush bar to ensure hard floors aren’t damaged, is among the tools bundled with the vacuum cleaner. This features a class 1 laser diode (so it’s safe for humans and pets) mounted at an angle of 1.5 degrees and 7.2mm off the ground, which projects a beam of green light in front of the cleaning head to highlight microscopic dust particles that are invisible to the eye. There are three variants in the shop since the launch of the Dyson V15 on 1st of June 2021 in the UK: Using the V15 in handheld mode means it can be used for a myriad of different dust collecting tasks, including vehicles, ensuring you don't need a separate car vacuum. There’s a large 0.75-litre bin in this model, which meant that I could largely complete a clean before having to empty it. Dust is ejected forwards and down, so it’s pretty clean emptying this cleaner, and you can remove the entire bin for full cleaning.
