About this deal

Yes, when you plug the unit in to dry it out, it will warm up. This is how the unit is renewed. The heat allows the clear silica gel inside the unit to expel the moisture it has absorbed. Make sure to is in a well-ventilated area during renewal and DO NOT cover the unit. Yes. The unit absorbs moisture. That moisture is released during the drying process. It is normal for released moisture to appear as small water droplets in the indicator window. While the unit is small at 8 inches in height, this is great for portability and placing it discreetly in a space. Another major size-related plus is that it doesn’t require coils or refrigerants like larger units. In terms of capacity, Eva-Dry covers about 150 square feet and collects a maximum of 16 ounces of moisture, whereas Tenergy Sorbi can cover 200 square feet and collect up to 25 ounces of moisture. When it comes to performance, we think the Tenergy’s ability to both purify and dehumidify the area is unbeatable, although the Eva-Dry also does a good job of dehumidifying the area and does so at a whisper, which is considerably quieter when compared to Tenergy.

SATISFACTION : SUPER DRY ODOR-FREE LIFE! Our dehumidifiers are top quality! Super durable and reliable. Comes with an industry-leading 5 year so you can get rid of moisture and not worry about mold or leaks! To put this type of square footage in perspective imagine two different rooms, one that’s 333 square feet and another that’s 500 square feet. Our example 333 square foot space is 33 feet long and 11 feet wide. Our example 500 square foot space is 25 feet long and 20 feet wide. These are sizable spaces. As we discussed above, Eva-Dry recommends the E-333 and E-500 for small spaces such as closets, pantries, small bathrooms, etc. Do any of these spaces have anywhere close to the dimensions of 33 by 11 ft or 25 by 20 ft? The answer is no. Thus even Eva-Dry themselves don’t recommend these products for any type of space with the same dimensions as their specified area of coverage of 333 or 500 square feet. Why then does the manufacturer attach these large overblown square footage numbers to what they themselves call mini dehumidifiers? SMALL, SLEEK DESIGN: This portable small design lets you hang or conveniently place the dehumidifier anywhere to fight pesky humidity! Cars, closets, boats, cabinets, gun safes, and even gym bags! A very convenient cool gift for everyone!Over time, our damp bathroom had started to get visible water damage on the walls from condensation, so we decided to try Eva-dry’s Edv-1100 Electric Petite Dehumidifier to see if it could stand up to the moisture. Read on to see how it worked out. The E-333 has a moisture removal capacity of 4 to 6 ounces. Eva-Dry states that the E-333 will reach this capacity after 2 to 4 weeks of use, depending on the conditions of the space that the unit is dehumidifying. In more humid and warmer conditions you can expect the E-333 to reach capacity more frequently (once every 2 weeks or so) while in less humid colder conditions you can expect it to reach capacity less frequently (once every 4 weeks). Note that even in the most humid, warmest conditions this unit will not reach capacity until a few weeks have passed. We were amazed by how little noise can be detected from this machine and think it’s one of its biggest selling points, especially if you use this in a bedroom. Eva-Dry Edv-1100 Electric Petite Dehumidifier vs. Tenergy Sorbi 1000ml Air Dehumidifier With Air Purifying Function View beads in the indicator window of the unit. If the indicator beads are orange, the unit is ready to use. If the indicator beads are green, the unit needs to be renewed. (See step 5) Once renewed, indicator beads will return to orange and the unit will be ready to absorb moisture again.

The average compressor based dehumidifier removes 30 to 70 pints (approximately 500 to 1000+ ounces) of moisture per day. The average thermo-electric dehumidifier removes about 10 ounces of moisture per day. Full size desiccant dehumidifiers remove about 20 pints (approximately 300 ounces) of moisture per day. The E-333 and similar devices should therefore only be used for extremely mild humidity problems in extremely small spaces. EASY TO USE: This mini dehumidifier is spill and mess free. Just hang and go! Non-toxic, child and pet safe! Your small rooms will be dry and odor free. Works for areas up to 333 cubic feet. The E-500 isn’t the only low cost rechargeable mini desiccant dehumidifier manufactured by Eva-Dry. The E-333 is similarly priced (it’s actually a bit cheaper) and works exactly the same way. It also dehumidifies by adsorption and it also contains the same silica gel. Like the E-500 it has an “indicator window” that will indicate when the device needs to be recharged. The crystals (of silica gel) in the indicator window will change color over the course of several weeks as the device dehumidifies. When the desiccant is completely unsaturated the color of the crystals in the indicator window will be blue. When the desiccant reaches 100% saturation the color of the crystals will turn pink – this indicates that it’s time to plug in the device for it to recharge. There are no lights on the unit. The indicator window contains color-changing beads that indicate when the unit needs to be renewed.

While we do like that the unit is incredibly small, especially with how much area it can cover, we wish the design was simpler and more attractive. On the plus side, since it is so compact, it can easily be hidden and out of sight. That being said, such a large dehumidifier would be overkill for a small only mildly humid space. The E-333 and E-500 certainly have their uses and we recommend them for the same spaces that Eva-Dry recommends them for – damp closets, cabinets, etc. We strongly disagree with Eva-Dry, however, on the size of the spaces that these devices should be used for. We would not recommend either the E-333 or the E-500 for any space larger than about 50 square feet. Either device, in our opinion, is simply not powerful enough to dehumidify any space larger than approximately 50 square feet. Final Thoughts Eva-Dry specifies that the E-500 can be used in spaces as large as 500 cubic feet and that the E-333 can be used in spaces as large as 333 cubic feet. While we don’t disagree that you could use these devices in spaces as large as 333 and 500 cubic feet, our recommendation is that you don’t. The E-500 and E-333 have a multitude of uses but dehumidifying any reasonably sized space (and in this case we consider 333 cubic feet to be a a “reasonably sized space”) isn’t one of them. Applications Buried within the product description for the E-500 is the fact that it only removes 6 to 8 ounces of moisture and that it takes 4 to 8 weeks to do so. Thus the E-500 removes less than 1 ounce of moisture per day. For the sake of this discussion let’s say that it removes 8 ounces of moisture in 4 weeks. 4 weeks = 28 days. 8 ounces divided by 28 days = approx. 0.3 ounces of moisture removal per day. Compare this number to the 70 pints = 1120 ounces of moisture that the FFAD7033R1 removes. 1120/0.3 = 3733.33. In other words, the FFAD7033R1 removes almost four thousand times as much moisture per day as the E-500 at less than 10 times the cost. When comparing moisture removal rate, the larger compressor based dehumidifier is clearly the much better value.Note: Our comments regarding the unit’s moisture removal rate, its value, and situations in which we recommend its use still apply.
