About this deal

When events come to a dramatic head with irrevocable implications for their future, the fallout is messy and brutal and plays out before the reader. The novel builds well, there is tension and suspense though disbelief suspenders are required on occasions but hey, it’s fiction! There are several twists and turns although one is easy to figure out but not entirely the reasons behind it. The end twist is good.

As the story developed, I could not believe some of the surprise revelations that Parks includes. At some points I was gasping in disbelief, finding myself re-reading some paragraphs in case I had missed something! There were some clever plot twists that come in the final chapters, so this is definitely a book you need to see through to the end to truly appreciate Parks thrilling narrative.A tasty, if not always tasteful, tale of supernatural mayhem that fans of King and Crichton alike will enjoy. Adele Parks goes fearlessly into worlds which others might balk at. She pulls it off every time. One Last Secret opened my eyes' Jane Corry, We All Have Our Secrets Dora is an high classed escort who happens to fall into a doting relationship with her friend Evan. They get engaged. He knows her history and feels nevertheless that they would be a good match and Dora is pretty OK about getting married. It would be such a novelty to be loved for her and not admired, for the services she provides.

Born in a different era, Connie would most likely have been one of the women knitting by the guillotines during the French revolution, she had the stomach for it. She always put curiosity before sentimentality. She collected experiences. A week at a beautiful chateau in the south of France – it should be a straightforward final job for Dora. She’s a smart, stunning and discreet escort and Daniel has paid for her services before. This time, all she has to do is to convince the assembled guests that she is his girlfriend. Dora is used to playing roles and being whatever men want her to be. It’s all about putting on a front. Simon and Daisy seem like a happy couple with their daughter Millie. They had tried to conceive for several years and she is very special to them. Simon has always loved a drink but now his drinking has spiralled out of control which leads to a dangerous accident. The story itself is grimly tragic, very involving and covers some uncomfortable topics, got to say though the portrayal of Simon’s alcoholism was genius, never have I understood an addiction so well and how it affects every angle of a life then when reading this AND he wasAn astonishing achievement, Parks gets better and better. The queen of the unpredictable thriller' Gillian McAllister, Wrong Place Wrong Time Daisy and Simon have struggled with infertility, so when their longed for daughter Millie arrives, everything seems to, at last, have fallen into place. But Simon is quite fond of a drink, a pleasure that he cannot deny himself, even if it causes distress and anguish for his wife and daughter. One dark night, as the relationship between Simon and Daisy seems to be at a tipping point, a tragedy befalls the small family, one that will take them to the very brink, and an already fractured marriage will be laid bare and more vulnerable than ever before.

Simon and Daisy Barnes have been married for a while, they were desperate for a child and after several failed rounds of IVF, to their joy Millie was born. She is now 6. Simon is a big drinker, he always has been but after receiving some devastating news he is imploding and his drinking is out of control. The story is told in alternate perspectives by Daisy and Simon. Daisy’s sections seem flat and a but lifeless compared to Simons but the reason for that eventually emerges. Adele is on fire with One Last Secret. Deliciously deceptive and darkly satisfying. I loved it' Jane Fallon, Just Got Real This book started off with a bang! And I was ooh! This is different! And these days different is as rare as a unicorn sighting!I saw the big reveal coming a mile away, but it didn’t take away from my enjoyment. It is slightly OTT, which I know some readers don’t like, but it worked fine for me. I also didn’t quite get how easily she succumbed to the ‘final gig’. How Elspeth kinda handed her over on a platter, despite obviously knowing what it meant (and why there was no mention of her later!), not to mention Dora’s naiveté in accepting the job and then acquiescing when things got a bit weird in France. Lies Lies Lies, written by Sunday Times bestselling author Adele Parks, offers a compelling study of the nature and impact of lies on a small family unit at crisis point. Daisy and Simon, the leads of this tale, have a seemingly perfect marriage to onlookers, but their relationship is put to the ultimate test when one lie ricochets right through their once happy union. And wouldn’t you know it, one look at her bruised, abused face is all it takes for her bestie Evan to propose marriage. They’ve never had sex – it’s been refreshing for Dora to have a friend without benefits in her life – but they are as intimate as two people can be without it. They share nearly everything with each other – Evan is one of the few people who knows just what Dora does for a living, and he loves her anyway. Dora knows all his foibles and hangups, too – and loves him anyway. They come from two different worlds – she’s the daughter of immigrants who had to flee their wartorn homeland, and he’s the son of one of the richest and most powerful men in Britain, but that has never mattered. Several years into their unexpected friendship they’ve found they connect more with each other than they do with their so-called peers. They’ve been circling the idea of taking their relationship to the next level, but Dora is pleasantly surprised and delighted by the fact that Evan is willing to skip the in-between steps of dating and living together to head straight to the altar. She says yes, and just like that, they’re engaged. Evan does demand she quit her job, however, worried there could be another incident like the one she just lived through. Dora also fears a repeat of that experience and is happy to hang up her stilettos and start planning a wedding. Daisy and Simon are the featured characters and Simon is the one struggling (and losing) with alcohol. Things are spiraling out of control and there is a terrible incident one night after a party. We get to hear from both Daisy and Simon, so I appreciated hearing both sides of the tale. However, I did not gain any sympathy for either character, I am not sure if this was the author’s intent or just my perception of the book. I did enjoy Daisy’s female friendships and wish that had been more of the story.
