About this deal

This fearless, often outrageously funny, account of life, learning, and growing with ADHD reveals the strategies Rich and Rox use to reduce shame, improve communication, and find happiness in their neurodivergent household.

This is a short book written from the perspective of a couple in which one has ADHD, and they focus on what it was like before and after the diagnosis and give advice without any references, which I really dislike when you have tips/suggestion sections but nothing but personal experience to back it up. However, an issue I have is that she got sober towards the end of 2018, got diagnosed with ADHD soon after, and then had over a year of celibacy to work on her love addiction / relationship issues. If you are lucky enough to have a spouse, family member, or friend who can support you then this book may be a good starting point for them to understand some of the ADHD struggles that many people face and how to support them. There's overlap but some of them may not fully be just PTSD like I thought and explains why they're not getting better.and we have different views on lots of things – but we always discuss things in a respectful way (which is pretty bloody unusual in this day and age of polarised opinions being shouted about on social media! Not least of these are the supplies and materials for “House of Resin,” a company that she spent three weeks building after seeing someone making a beautiful wooden table inlaid with a waterfall made of blue resin. There are just some aspects in our relationship that one of us will *always* handle, and you know what it works for us with no overwhelm! It's highly addictive to get core insights on personally relevant topics without repetition or triviality. If you have ADHD – or love somebody who does – DIRTY LAUNDRY will change your life, and your relationships.

Overall it’s a simple and concise book, filled with personal experiences that may or may not apply to you/your ADHD partner, but is a small step to reframing negative thoughts and hopefully steering people towards the help that they need! Both things I had been living with and struggling with for years (ADHD my whole life) without knowing what was wrong.Whatever the symptoms you’re dealing with, Rox and Rich’s anecdotes and advice will take the shame out of ADHD and make life more manageable for ADHDers and the ones who love them. Be proud of being different and the contribution your alternative wiring brings to the mix, as Willie Wonka said, "we are the music makers, and the dreamers of dreams. I was thrilled that they narrated themselves for the audiobook, since that’s now the only way I can read, due to my ADHD. Told from the perspective of the person who is blessed and cursed with a neuro-divergent brain and the person who loves and supports them.
