About this deal

The ventilation is also a big plus. Many budget tents have only a single vent, which means they overheat in the summer months, and users have problems with condensation. The centre spreader pole does allow for a lot of flex which causes the vestibules deform in high winds, but it never felt like the structure of the tent was in danger. The tent is secured by four guy ropes – two on either end – and eight other pegs securing the main structure.

At the two ends of the tent – without doors – the rainfly doesn’t reach all the way to the ground. This provides constant ventilation. Also it presents a slight risk when it comes to waterproofing. One more reason to lay down the ground tarp before setting up the tent. The Footprint CONVENIENT and THOUGHTFUL DESIGN: The Mongar 2-person tent has 2 doors, one on each side, for easy access. The 2 vestibules provide larger storage space for gear than standard 2-person tents; Each of the vestibules can be fully or partially closed for desired air circulation and shade. The Mongar, Cloud Up and Star River all use a similar pole structure. However, the Mongar’s symmetrical design means it is the roomiest tent. Just be cautious before use in extended downpours, and make sure to spray the tent with an extra waterproof coating on a regular basis. The Star River sits somewhere in between the two. So, if it’s inner space you want, then the Mongar is probably the one for you.

nylon is of course quite thin (a necessary trade-off if you want to keep weight down while maintaining size/capacity), and while fine for the flysheet it does feel a little on the thin side for the groundsheet, though I don't see this being a problem when used in combination with the footprint. The poles are 7001 aluminium which flex nicely when erecting and don't ever feel like they are being forced into place. To the best of my knowledge, Naturehike is born out of a Chinese company producing tents for MSR, that’s why some tents are very similar to those by the American brand ( Chinese law obliges foreign manufacturers to share the intellectual property of the design). The rainfly and floor are made from 20D polyester with a 4000mm waterproof index, a silicon-coated fabric with fully taped seams. The Mongar is able to keep you dry under tropical downpours if set up properly. The poles look durable, made of 7001 aluminum.

Big Area for 2 Person: More than 30 square feet area for sleeping, while length up to 6.89 feet, width up to 4.4 feet, height up to 3.28 feet. This tent has an enormous porch area, big enough to store bicycles. This can be such a relief if you’re bike touring because you can hide your precious gear out of sight, as well as keep it dry, thereby preventing rust or water damage. Considering it is a three-season tent and shouldn’t necessarily be taken on expeditions where extreme weather is expected, the Mongar has held up very well under relatively strong wind and rain. Conclusion

The lightweight, mesh inner tent and air vents on the flysheet, work together to provide an airy and well-ventilated space. Even in cold weather, with two bodies inside, I have yet to experience condensation within the tent. Room with a view. Enjoying sunrise in the Kouebokkeveld. (IG: @daniapea) This is a freestanding tent, able to resist strong winds thanks to a stable design, the ventilation is good with two air vents on the flysheet to prevent condensation. The Naturehike Mongar 2 is a quality, durable, but affordable tent. It’s perfect for one person who likes a bit more room to spread out or a couple of people who don’t mind sharing their personal space. The gear is designed and manufactured in China. What’s So Special About Naturehike Tents Compared to Other Tents? For the purposes of this review, the Mongar was tested overnight under a number of different weather conditions and seasons: frigid, high winds, as well as rain, in the Kouebokkeveld, cold but calm spring conditions at Luna Peak summit in the Cederberg, and balmy evenings in the Langeberg and Eastern Cape. In all tested conditions, the Mongar provided a safe haven from the elements, whether it was a light morning dew or icy winds. The sturdy Mongar withheld serious buffeting from high winds in the Kouebokkeveld mountains (IG: @daniapea)
