Sammy had become a hero in the forest. All of his friends and even other animals who lived far away knew that he was always ready to help overcome their fears. Whether it was climbing tall trees, crossing a river, or facing any other challenge, Sammy was always there with a smile on his face. In the short film "Hammy's Boomerang Adventure", RJ hosts his own show called "RJ's Wide World of Nature". He and the porcupine kids sneak up on Hammy and secretly expose him to a boomerang to see how he behaves with it. As Sammy continued upwards towards even more challenging heights- branch by branch-he gained more confidence realizing that there was nothing stopping him now! With their encouragement ringing in his ears, Sammy began to climb up the tree slowly but surely. At first, every rustle of leaves made him jumpy, but as he climbed higher and higher, he started feeling more confident. Sidney could see how desperate Sammy had become. He knew that unless he came to the rescue Sammy would surely die. So he invited him into his warm drey and shared his winter store of food with him. Sammy was so grateful and realized how selfish and stupid he had been. He was so sorry for the way in which he had behaved and promised that in future he would prepare for the winter like all sensible animals should.From then on whenever an animal needed help overcoming fear or obstacle they would think about only one name - SAMMY! Firstly, they showed Sammy where he could find the best nuts in the entire forest. This way when he finally climbed up a tree he would have something tasty waiting for him at the top.

The other animals in the forest couldn’t believe it either! They watched in awe as Sammy scurried up and down trees with ease. Some even asked him to teach them how to climb too! An OHP/whiteboard would be useful so that the audience can join in the prayer; a whiteboard and pen if a list is to be made. So whenever anyone needed help reaching something high or overcoming their own fears, they knew who to call - fearless little Sammy! Though they only talk to each other one time in the script, Hammy is seen around Heather's company somewhat often, so it can be assumed that they're friends of some caliber. This isn't conveyed very well, though.Before long, Sammy had reached the top of the tree - something that once seemed impossible! He looked down at all the nuts below him and felt very proud of himself. Hammy (or Sammy, as he first was) did not appear in the comics originally, as RJ and Verne were the sole main characters. Other niche characters like Dotty (a dog), as well as Velma & Luby (the female counterparts to Verne and RJ) came before him.
