About this deal

I really don’t know who was the incredible GENIUS behind this work of art, but I am a fan of that guy. Astonishing album that has aged exceedingly well and effortlessly blends contrasting musical styles. Some copies feature a red or pink circular hype sticker with the following text: "tears for fears includes sowing the seeds of love woman in chains 838 730 1".

Tears For Fears – Songs From The Big Chair (1985, Vinyl

This is an amazing underrated album I’ve luckily owned since its original release back in 1989 and somehow sounds better now than it ever did. Tears for Fears are an English pop rock band formed in Bath, England, in 1981 by Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith. This is a real audiophile experience with the original 1989 pressing at a time when recordings of this quality were very rare on vinyl with all the focus being on CDs.

This is a really good example of how to press vinyl, and manage to eliminate as much surface noise as possible. The album peaked at number two in the UK and at number one in the US, becoming a multi-platinum seller. The 30th Anniversay was last year, but strangely they re issued The Hurting instead (which was still awesome). I really love this album and I don't mind the noise since it's not overly intrusive, and is mostly gone by the time I'm about halfway through A1.

aside from the killer songwriting, the production is remarkably top-notch and pristine, all while retaining an aura of authenticity that never fades out through the course of the album. Curt would personally like to thank Frances, Steve and Booney, Theo and Louise, Paul and Heather, Dave and Mary . pretty much the only pop-rock album i've consistently enjoyed ever since having been introduced to it.

Songs from the Big Chair is the second studio album by English pop rock band Tears for Fears, released on 25 February 1985 by Phonogram Records. I found the US to be better balanced, solid bass and mids presence with a good amount treble and detail. It's a little noisy, but considering that I bought this for about 20ish CAD from a seller in the UK and it had to get shipped across the Atlantic, I think it sounds great. on top of it, the material has aged beautifully well, in a way that still makes it a personal favorite in the current landscape of pop music at large.

Founded after the dissolution of their first band, the mod-influenced Graduate, Tears for Fears were initially associated with the new wave synthesizer bands of the early 1980s.

Woman In Chains’ and ‘Badmand’s Song’ my personal favourites, with Oleta Adams adding her warm silky vocals to these tracks.
