Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own. Secondly, I loved the fact that each scene in the book was interlinked with popular books like: Harry Potter Series, The Wizard Of Oz, Alice In The Wonderland etc. It actually enhanced the storyline a lot. Being an avid reader, I had read most of the books mentioned in this novel and thus was able to co – relate to the story in a much efficient manner. I really think that this was totally the best part about this book.

I always love it when books have pets because pets are so important to people and they bring a different type of comfort. Pure magic tbh A member of staff approaches her and Mum’s eyes focus again. ‘No thank you,’ she says when the woman asks if she needs any help. ‘I’m just waiting for my daughter and her friend.’ Then she comments on how lovely the woman’s earrings are and her face lights up as she tells Mum that she made them herself. Soon enough they’re in a full-blown conversation about jewellery-making, even though Mum knows nothing about it. Each star has a different number of points, depending on how high in the sky they are. So, the stars that hang lower amount less than those that shine higher. If you catch a shooting star, you get an advantage of a hundred points. It's one of the only books that made me cry at the end. Heartwarming and leaves you in tears. Really good and I recommend it.

When we’re alone again we fall into that easy sort of conversation we have when it’s just the two of us. Sometimes we even forget where we are because the Saff and Elle bubble is indestructible – even an army of goblins couldn’t break through it. Mum’s good at talking to people, being a lawyer. She knows exactly what to say at all times. I’m different. I only know how to express myself in video games. Instead of words, I use spells and incantations. Safiya and her mother have a complex relationship: both fiery women who spark off one another. But when her mother slips into a coma, Safiya is lost... until she discovers the magical perfume her mother wears might be the key to saving her.

By the end of the story Safiya’s relationships with people in her life are different to those at the beginning. As a teenager, which one was most crucial for her to deal with the changes around her? I know it’s weird not wanting Elle to come round, because she’s my best friend. But Saturday nights are supposed to be our night. Mum and me. I can’t help but laugh. Mum’s games don’t always make sense, because her brain works in mysterious ways. The striking difference in star colours is illustrated beautifully in this image, which combines two different types of light: blue stars, shining brightest in near- ultraviolet light, and red stars, illuminated in red and near- infrared. Space telescopes like Hubble can observe in the ultraviolet because they are positioned above Earth’s atmosphere, which absorbs most of this wavelength, making it inaccessible to ground-based facilities.

I think it’s an important book for kids to read so they can evaluate their friendships and also remember to say I Love You yo their parents and not let their anger get the better of them. She starts to explore her mother's past through a magical game. You almost can smell the perfume and feel the heat of Kuwait on your skin through this book. It's freaking beautiful. The way it explores her grief and need for understanding. The way it explores how she wants to save her mum. I adore the development of friendship in this. I love the ending! Now I tend to follow authors much more closely than I did. My favourite MG author at the moment is Katherine Rundell; I always look forward to her next publication. I am also really excited to keep on reading Anna James’ and Cat Doyle’s books. Safiya's mum is in a coma, and Safiya is desperate to be closer to her. Then she falls into a strange world that seems to be coming from her mother's memories of her childhood in Kuwait - and Safiya's own favourite computer games. This is a gorgeous, magical story with a twist, and a wonderful, assured debut. (8+) Now, when it comes to my opinion about this book, then I must say that it was really very moving as well as heartfelt. I loved the way the author portrayed the character of the protagonist, Sofiya. It was gracious and deeply described. anyways this is a really beautiful book about family and friendship and growing up and saying goodbye and also dealing with grief and loss.

We’re at a coffee shop next door to the theatre, having cake and hot chocolate while we wait to watch an afternoon performance of Rapunzel. Keep collections to yourself or inspire other shoppers! Keep in mind that anyone can view public collections - they may also appear in recommendations and other places.Ever since Mum and Dad divorced, and I decided to live with Dad, they set up these Saturday visits as part of the custody agreement. Mum and I hang out in the afternoon, and then we have dinner together and a sleepover. Usually Mum cooks, sometimes it’s a takeaway, but it’s always just been the two of us. I never struggle for something to say, my mind is always busy with thoughts, and I am quite acutely aware of my emotions. Safiya is different. She’s not always aware of how she’s feeling, and she often can’t find the words to express it. But she also has a strength inside of her that I know we all hold, waiting to come out when it matters, and that’s why I hope she will appeal to readers. I’ve recently started doing macrame, and I’ve been obsessively making plant hangers and tapestries. I spent a few hours the other day working on a tapestry, and by the end of it, I had managed to develop a rather crucial strand to my second book. Plotting, for me, happens when I’m doing other things. If I actively think about my story for too long, I rarely come up with anything good. Elle’s like a chameleon, she always knows what to say. She changes personalities depending on who she’s around and can talk to just about anyone, like Mum. I’m just a plain old lizard, darting into the corner of every room I enter. Some blend into others until all you can remember is the memory of a memory of a memory, and you don't quite know where your imagination takes over.
