Cardboard box containing 12 jumbo coloured pencils (long) in assorted colours with a FREE sharpener? We do wish that they would also include the color name or at least a color code for easy identification. But at least the barrel is color-matched to the core. Cost – 4/5 Staedtler are a German based company,a name I am sure everyone is familiar with. Staedtler make so many wonderful stationary supplies and on a global scale, millions of people world wide have used a Staedtler product at one time or another. Coloured pencils in triangular format, such as our STAEDTLER ergosoft or STAEDTLER ergosoft jumbo in lots of bright colours.

From what I can ascertain, Staedtler have three brands of colored pencil, Staedtler Noris Club, Staedtler Noris and Staedtler Ergosoft. With the Ergosoft, the pencil we are reviewing here, the largest set is 24 and they also have a set of 12. I personally would love to see this particular range of pencil extended to 36 or 48, giving a little bit more choice to the younger artists using this pencil. As already mentioned, the pencils themselves come in a triangular shape and have an ergosoft grip to them, which really makes them stand out. They are coated in their respected color and labeled with a white stamp that displays the brand name. They come in a patented Staedtler stand-up box that, while not as aesthetically pleasing as, say, a wooden box, does a good job of protecting the pencil and is also quite handy for moving around the various offerings. These pencils feature our unique Anti- Break- System: the white protective coating reinforces the lead core and increases break-resistance. Over 180 years ago, Johann Sebastian Staedtler developed the coloured oil pastel pencil, the predecessor of the coloured pencil. The manufacturing process has not changed all that much over the years: individual colour pigments are still mixed with binding agents and pressed into the shape of a lead. The lead is encased in wood to protect it. This is where Staedtler Ergosoft Colored Pencils really shine. With the break-resistant 3mm lead, ergosoft ultra-soft non-slip grip, and reinforced protective coating, these are meant to last for a long time and feel comfortable while doing it. The Staedtler Ergosoft is a wood barrel, however, there is a softness to its touch, I am not quite sure if the wood barrel has been covered in a soft plastic lacquer, whatever the material, it is very comfortable. The individual pencils have a name field so classmates don’t get their pencil mixed up with another's. Tip: Many STAEDTLER coloured pencils are available in a set as well as individually. You can therefore buy replacements of your favourite colours, which usually get used up sooner.The comfortable grip makes blending and other potentially laborious work fluid and worry-free and the unique shape helps to maintain user control. This combination of tough features means that these are good for classroom settings where they might go through a lot of abuse. The density of the material makes these pencils a little heavier, and they sit comfortably in the hand.
