About this deal

Also, the author was really promising a great deal of a “new” vampire story. No creepy age difference, which was appreciated. It would have been nice without the weird girl vs girl moment. Majority of the writing was immature, it would have been interesting if the author had managed to deviate from the early 2000s and produced something less competitive. Positive female relationships are amazing, but also so is not type writing the only other female character as a bitch who’s attracted to the male lead. I would still recommend this book if you are looking for a fast paced, spicy Romantasy with morally grey MC’s! Off topic, but if vampires can only be turned through The Family's blood, then how was William and the rest of his murderous anti-vampire squad turned? Their goal is to rid the planet of the evil of The Family but isn't the call coming from inside the house? It's also very possible in their monologuing toward the end I missed some explanation as I sped-read through it in the middle of Texas Roadhouse while waiting to be seated so I could mark this book as finished. Truthfully, Zach and Luke would've been more interesting if they had done some culty shit like it's hinted at, except the Calem brothers are all uwu boys who survive off their undefying brotherly love for one another so they can't outright do anything bad because it would take away from their golden retriever vibes. This just came to mind that I'm still confused about, but William mentioned that it was never Kimberly he was after, but rather Aaron and his brothers. I can accept this because as far as interesting main characters go, there isn't anything about Kimberly that would make William go feral over ala Bella Swan and James. But if that's true, then why would he bite her after the frat party without taking any blood, then proceed to steal her purse? I feel like that Charlie Day meme from It's Always Sunny as I try to make sense of these plot points that just make no sense. Blood may be a commonality, but shared experiences and laughter create the true richness of family.” I really enjoy the human/vampire couple, so I was sad to see she decided to turn in the end (even though I saw it coming early on in the story). Chris was such an unlikeable character there was no way Kim would ever go live with him. Kim also didn’t have much of a relationship with any of her classmates in this story. So it wasn’t that difficult for her to leave it all behind.

This story feels, to me, like one of those books where the characters are everything. Everything. Without these characters, the story wouldn't be as good for me, truly. It pains my soul to know I'll have to wait 1 year to return to the Calem brothers and Kim 😭.Family is a mix of souls who inspire you, challenge you, and uplift you – regardless of biological ties.” Are you going to kill me?" Wilbur whispered, heart hammering in his throat, eyes lowered to the ground. All through his youth he had heard the whispers of monsters in the night, learned the deep-seated fear that came with deep shadows and quiet corners and the dead of night. People disappeared, found dead days later, empty husks with their faces frozen in pain and terror. Some people were never found. He knew the stories, but somewhere in the last year, he forgot to fear them. Now he was gonna die for his arrogance. He wasn't prepared for the Man to laugh inches from his face, his footsteps as silent as the night around them. Wilbur flinched. Going in I didn't realize this book was just part one, which is kind of important because this sets up A Lot. Especially the last couple chapters. Knowing that makes the pacing make a lot more sense though. Overall this was a very cute book and I look forward to the next one! This goes past just romance and has a very interesting story dealing with old power that I can't wait to see the progression of. I don't wanna say too much because spoilers but I do highly recommend this book and my only real complaint was that there was a fair amount of spelling errors. I'm gonna assume that's because it's an ARC though. The Blood That Binds Us has a captivating plot that drew me in immediately, with wonderful world building and immense political intrigue as we learn more about the various forms of magic and the oppressive castes systems in this world. presley was definitely my favorite character. i loved how chaotic he was and overall enjoyed his character better than the other ones.

I believe the characters had some amazing development, especially when it came to a certain devastatingly handsome, Dark Art. I believe he grew the most throughout the story. I loved Wren as our FMC. The strength and power she possesses makes her such a threat and she wears that with pride. I respect her greatly for that, knowing how much she had been through. You could really feel how each character felt while only reading through 1 point of view. I found that fascinating! Adorable! That's not necessarily what you would associate a vampire book with, but here we are. Aaron is such a golden retriever and I adore him and I need more male leads like him. We meet some really incredible new characters in this book (you can just be prepared to love Skylar the most), and there is constant action in this—I never felt like a scene was there for pure fluff it was really all impactful for the plot. Whispers of the carnage traveled far and wide, describing the bodies drained, eyes glassy and dull. They spoke of the blood decorating the walls and streets and how no one had been spared, not even the children. They whispered of the man who had emerged, blood dripping from his mouth and staining his clothes and his claws and his teeth, eyes red. They called him the angel of Death.

Our second main character and POV, Aaron, also had a stunning amount of character development from beginning to end as he struggled to maintain control of his vampire abilities. This was something that was not only terrifying for Aaron as he is afraid of hurting Kimberly but was also concerning for his brothers to witness. Aaron fights with the sentient darkness that is his vampire side throughout the story as it begins to directly interfere with his life and the people he cares about. This filled the Twilight shaped hole in my heart and I CAN'T WAIT FOR BOOK 2!! ALSO once again books like this are the reason WE SHOULD JUDGE BOOKS BY THEIR COVER CAUSE THIS IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BOOK EVER?!

The ties of blood are a symphony of hearts, playing a melody of love that resonates through generations.”Will the Calem boys ever be free from The Family? Or will the world they’ve built and the bonds they’ve made go up in flames? Romance? No. If you want a slow burn that burns so slow you don't get a kiss - even in the epilogue - then sure. But there is no actual romance or love in this story. She grabs his wrist and that's about it. Even their final "proclamation" of love is FILLED with the word "hypothetical," and I mean that literally.

The smut in this was well-written and the story was well-paced. Also, Sol is a total sweetheart, and it is stupidly easy to simp for the big dragon man.None of these things detracted from what was a really enjoyable story, but it did detract from it being an absolute BANGER! Friendship is a blood relation of the soul, where loyalty, trust, and understanding run as deep as any lineage.” After a certain amount of romantic-fantasy stories, I have become so familiar with the various tropes and patterns of the genre that very little takes me by surprise anymore. Erin managed to do it though. I DID NOT see some twists coming AT ALL and am so impressed and happy with the writing. This is the perfect fall book! And it’s a perfect second book in the series. I love all of these characters so much and I loved seeing them again! They are the sweet group of silly little frat boy vampires!! This book was a little more serious than the first, but it was the perfect progression! And the goofy parts of the guys was very much present!! Meanwhile, a war is looming, and Wren’s feral magic may be the only thing that can stop the uprising from destroying the kingdom, her home, and everyone that stands in their way. After her sister is captured by the rebellion, Wren must seek help from the kingdom’s ruler who would sooner imprison her than offer aid. Except… Singard needs her, and when she volunteers the use of her power in exchange for his help finding her sister, an unlikely alliance is born.
