While the Chromebook doesn’t look like much, it definitely has a sturdy feel to it and the extra features like the rubberized edge and spill-resistant keyboard add an extra kid-proof level to this computer. DisplayThe 3189 managed a very low 13 frames per second on the WebGL Aquarium graphics test, which measures 3D graphics by showing a tank with 2,000 fish swimming. This was lower than the Chromebook Flip (50 fps) and the Chromebook 3180 (26 fps).

The Chromebook 3189 scored 48.1 on the JetStream benchmark test, which measures JavaScript performance (the higher the score, the better). This was close to the Chromebook 3180 (49.9) and the Chromebook R 13 (58.74), but much lower than the Chromebook Flip C302CA (127.32) and far below the category average of 168.8. Above the screen is a front-facing webcam that shoots video at 720p resolution. It's a bog-standard laptop camera, and while its quality isn't amazing (video is noisy at times, even in good light), it isn't any worse than similar cameras on Windows laptops that cost three times as much. Of course, if more screen real estate is your priority, the first Toshiba Chromebook is a tiny bit bulkier with a 13.3-inch screen. Despite the extra glass, the Toshiba model is only marginally larger at 12.9 x 8.9 x 0.8 inches and 3.3 pounds. Spec sheet Good past the last bell: With at least 10 hours of battery life, this trusty PC gets kids through even the longest school days.Google doesn’t say when these pre-2019 Chromebooks will get Android apps, only that support is “planned” for some time in the future. Don’t stake your life on it, in other words.

The screen might have it's issues, but I was thoroughly surprised by the quality of this laptop's speakers. Whereas most notebook speakers in this size and price range end up sounding like tin cans, there was barely any of the same hollow tones with the Dell. Rather, the speakers were able to carry high and low tones just like a good pair of Sennheiser headphones, though with slightly less bass than a pair of cans by Beats. Passing the input standardThe touch screen was very responsive. When in tent or tablet mode, tapping on a text box brings up an on-screen keyboard, which was awkward to type on but got the job done for short inputs. However, it's not the sort of thing a student would want to use for any length of time.
