About this deal

From sitcoms with sharp wit to side-splitting late-night sketches, television overflows with a plethora of comedy content designed to make audiences laugh. These knee-slappers have transformed television, creating a rich tapestry of humor that has evolved throughout the ages and given fans some of the funniest shows of all time. In this world of hilarity, some series stand a cut above the rest, resonating with audiences and taking their places in the annals of television history as the best comedy series of all time. Their chemistry is next level’: Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney in Catastrophe. Photograph: Mark Johnson/Channel 4 For example, streaming. If you want to watch Netflix on your telly, you’ll need a box like the Virgin TV 360 box that comes with the app built in. You’ll also want to consider multi-room TV services and the option to include HD channels, both of which are available with Virgin Media. David Cross as Tobias Fünke in Arrested Development. This new tale “inspired by real events” boldly offers a Wolf of Wall Street comedy-of-excess angle, as Emily Blunt’s jobless single mom Liza discovers a talent for pushing a fentanyl-based cancer drug to doctors when hired by Chris Evans’s pushy sales rep. As the cash rolls in, however, the firm’s owner (Andy García) stretches the legality of the operation and Liza begins to have qualms, with Blunt making the most of her switch from partying to pitying. The inventor of the television would not let his own children watch TV. He once said to his son “There’s nothing on it worthwhile, and we’re not going to watch it in this household, and I don’t want it in your intellectual diet.” – Philo T Farnsworth. The Model 401 (released in April 1976) and 401a features four built-in games, a built-in speaker, and two controller knobs, Toggle Switches (choices are "Professional" and "Amateur") for the following settings - Angle / Bat Size / Ball Speed. There are 2 buttons - Power and Start Game, and a dial to select between the four built-in games. I barely do. Though the TV we had at that point only had 6 channels so it wasn’t needed too much. OK, Insecure is obviously and objectively the better, smarter show about female friendship, but I can’t publish this list without the Bold Type. Jane (Katie Stevens), Kat (Aisha Dee) and Sutton (Meghann Fahy) live for their jobs at a completely unlikely women’s magazine in this glossy, a-bit-terrible but undeniably moreish series. Yes there are eyerolls aplenty (and some ill-judged plotlines), but it also stepped into surprisingly difficult territory – about race, women’s health and the assumption that we all want babies. The friendship is the show’s endless joy – and as the actors moved in together to shoot the final season, it’s been a treat to follow IRL too. – SH

Steve Coogan’s performance as an inept and narcissistic radio DJ is pure comedy gold. Following this smug blunderbuss lurch from one ill-advised situation to the next is the quintessential train crash viewing experience: can’t watch, can’t look away. Dumped by his wife and dropped from the BBC, Partridge now does the graveyard shift for a small local radio station. Any attempt to describe his escapades (from faux pas to practical jokes to weird tirades) inevitably fails to do the show justice; so much comes from the delivery. – LB There are a few no-miss TV pitches, shows that will be commissioned again and again until the light fades out of the sky: “coppers – what if there was a good one?”; “genius detective investigates a murder despite not quite being over their dead kid”; “we’ll never work out as a couple … unless?”; and, of course, “I’m a spy, but get this: one who breaks all the rules”. They won’t stop making them and I won’t stop watching them. And so I gleefully welcome season three of Slow Horses (Apple TV+, from Friday 1 December).
