About this deal

When Nat tells Hal that Morti has just won the Nobel prize for her ground-breaking work, Hal’s curiosity is piqued. Meeting her in the bar of the hotel, he listens as she tells him about a series of odd things that have happened to her over the previous two months and decides to investigate to try to get to the bottom of things. But the following morning, before he has the chance to do so, Morti leaves early, explaining in a note that something has come up and including the keys to her cabin where Nat and Hal are to stay. There's also another family member involved. I loved how much their arrival let the book show how much Hal has grown in confidence since < a href = https://sifaelizabethreads.wordpress.... HIGHLAND FALCON THIEF, and how much Nat trusts and respects Hal's judgement. Hal is older than at the start, and has been through a lot, and it was nice for that to be realistically portrayed. The adults are still doing their best to protect Hal, as is the duty of care any adult has to a minor, but he's never belittled or babied. They've all grown across six books.

The winners of The Farshore Reading for Pleasure Teacher Awards 2023, highlighting the work schools are doing to encourage a love of reading, have... It’s always such a pleasure to meet readers (young and old), and Cheltenham puts on one of the very best festival in the country. The RRP is the suggested or Recommended Retail Price of a product, set by the publisher or manufacturer. As with the other five Adventures on Trains mysteries, you never know who you’re going to meet or what will happen next. The action never slows, not even for a moment. Readers have no choice but to hold on for the ride, breathlessly searching for clues and trying to find the answers before it’s too late. Author Guy Bass introduces SCRAP, about one robot who tried to protect the humans on his planet against an army of robots. Now the humans need his...This is definitely the most tense and fast paced trains adventure yet- and my new favourite! In this story, we learn more about Uncle Nat’s mysterious past and it seems that danger is catching up with him. There are moments of real peril and suspense as the action builds, raising serious concerns for the safety of all involved. I really enjoyed this book, full of excitement and action and, as usual, the illustrations are amazing and add so much to the story. So if your young readers are fans of my stories, but haven’t read this classic, why not get them this edition in which I wax lyrical about the importance of Mole, Ratty, Badger and Toady in my life. Well, I don't know about anyone else I really want to go on a fancy train journey. Although I'd prefer not to meet any murderers along the way. This particular train sounds just right because whilst I don't like the cold the idea of a Christmas market somewhere snowy and the Northern Lights as well would sell it to me.

My picturebook with illustrator Daniel Rieley, The Tale of a Toothbrush, features in the new exhibition at The Story Museum ‘Brilli-ANT!’ about how small creatures can make a big difference. In Danger at Dead Man’s Pass (book 4 in the Adventures on Trains series), we learned about Uncle Nat’s mysterious past. In this new adventure, his Cold War connections lead the pair into very real danger. This extra layer to the story is incredibly intriguing – I want to know more about Uncle Nat’s life before the train mysteries began! This week I attended The Week Junior Book Awards. The Ice Children audio production was shortlisted for the Best Audiobook and although it didn’t win, we impressed the judges enough for them to award it one of only two Highly Commended badges given out that evening. I was overjoyed. I’m very proud of that Audible production. The Arctic Railway Assassin can be read as a stand-alone novel, or enjoyed as part of the award-winning Adventures on Trains series written by M. G. Leonard and Sam Sedgman. Join Hal and Uncle Nat on more stops in this thrilling series with: Murder on the Safari Star , Danger at Dead Man's Pass and Sabotage on the Solar Express.

But the mystery of Morti's disappearance continues with them. There is someone on board that wants something and they suspect Hal and Nat have it. As with the other books in the series, this works very well as a standalone read but there is such enormous pleasure to be gained from all of the titles that I really would recommend starting your reading from the beginning. Throughout the series, the stories have been greatly complemented by the artistic skills of Elisa Paganelli, whose maps and illustrations are a joy to behold, and this title is no exception. Ignoring the fact that it should have been introduces way earlier in the series, we find out Uncle Nat has a partner? by the name of James. Another bestselling, prize-winning Adventures on Trains series by the amazing duo M.G. Leonard & Sam Sedgman tells a thrilling sixth adventure!Once again, woven into the mystery are the descriptions of the country they are travelling through and I always look forward to reading these as they really help to set the scene for me. As ever, Hal's illustrations prove pivotal to the investigations and I always love to spend time studying the detail in each one. Hat's off to Elisa Paganelli for these - they make the best accompaniment to the story; as does the map at the beginning. I do love a book map. Hal meets Morti and finds out about a bit of a mystery surrounding her former husband who had been arrested two years before by secret service police and she'd destroyed all of his work. And yet all of a sudden mysterious things had started happening to her. However, they had plenty of time to talk as she was joining them on the train. The success of this series is not at all surprising as every book not only introduces the reader to a new location - and a new train - but also a brilliant new mystery to solve. I can't wait to see what Hal gets up to next!

Also, it was a bit violent, and there were some crude references not appropriate for a children's book. On the night train to Narvik, Uncle Nat and Hal realise they are being followed by a sinister figure and Uncle Nat’s past catches up with him. Special guest feature from Hal’s mum!Alex O'Connell, The Times The latest thrilling instalment of the Adventures on Trains series finds Hal and Uncle Nat on the night train to the Arctic Circle - with a sinister figure pursuing the stunning locomotive. The Arctic Railway Assassin is the sixth instalment in the bestselling Adventures on Trains series. Hal and Uncle Nat travel to Sweden, boarding the overnight train to Narvik, the northernmost station in Europe, to see the Northern Lights just before Christmas. But danger is not far behind. It was wonderful to be able to finally get together and celebrate all the wonderful people who brought these stories to life and into the hands of eager young readers. Special thanks go to Elisa Paganelli who is the artist behind Hal, and who illustrated every book, doing all the maps and covers too. Jot Davies is the talented actor who voices the audiobooks. Sarah Hughes is our incredible editor. Kirsty McLachlan is our fabulous agent. Really the list goes on and on. Despite what you may hear, making books is a collaborative process.
