About this deal

An animated television special based on the book, also called The Secret World of Og produced by Hanna-Barbera, was previously broadcast in 1983 in the United States as part of ABC Weekend Specials during its sixth season. [1]

And there is this from a short story in the Albany, New York Times-Union. The use of golliwog is in the sense of the doll, but the descriptor brute indicates how people viewed the character. The story is about a talking baby, who at one point says: A pollywog (also spelled polliwog) is the same thing as a tadpole. It’s the larval stage of toads and frogs, the wiggly heads with tails seen abundantly in freshwater streams and ponds. “Pollywog” sounds like a made-up Dr. Seuss name, but it shares the same Middle English root as the more scientific sounding “tadpole.” Pol is the word for head, evident in both tadpole and pollywog. The “tad” part in tadpole is from a Middle English word for toad and the “wog” in pollywog is from the Middle English “wiglen,” to wiggle. Both are interchangeably descriptive terms for the wriggly aquatic youngsters. Peter refers to Egon and Winston as The Professor and Mary Ann, characters from the TV show, "Gilligan's Island." [16] The disappearance of the Uptons’ character from popular memory made room for speculation as to the origin of wog, and several false acronymic explanations developed to justify the term. The most common are westernized / worthy / wily / wonderful oriental gentleman or working on government service, this last supposedly stenciled on the shirts of Egyptian workers on the Suez Canal. Of course, these explanations are all false, with no evidentiary support. Peter Venkman (2009). The Real Ghostbusters - " Very Beast Friends" (1990) (DVD ts. 15:42-15:52). Time Life Entertainment. All says: "Row, row, row your boat gently down the stream. Merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream."

Queeg is a character from the novel "The Caine Mutiny." He was a new ship commanding officer who operated by the book but made a series of mistakes and never admitted it. Hopper’s so preoccupied with keeping El safe from “the bad men”—and keeping his town safe from the repercussions that would follow her discovery—that he doesn’t consider how confining his idea of safety is. The montage of Hopper teaching El his simple ground rules intercut with footage of her deliberately breaking them is a little on the nose, but so is a lot of blossoming-teenager behavior. Townsend, Edward W. “Chronicle’s Daily Short Story: Maj. Max’s Ghost.” Augusta Chronicle (Georgia), 30 September 1901, 5. Readex: America’s Historical Newspapers. The book was wildly successful on both sides of the Atlantic, and the Uptons would go on to publish a series of books featuring the character of the golliwogg. The books also inspired a lucrative market in golliwogg dolls. Peter: I’m still suspicious of Bob the Brain, but his little bonding moment with Will in the car was really endearing. Sean Astin is perfectly cast as the small town nerd all grown up and living vicariously through his girlfriend’s kids. I loved the advice he gave Will – to confront his own personal Mr. Baldo – because it was so abstract but appropriate (if eventually ineffectual).

It’s odd Jonathan would lie to Nancy that Steve asked him to drive Nancy home. He should’ve told her how Steve stormed out and left her there in a vulnerable situation. I just don’t get why he would cover for Steve, it’s not like he overheard the conversation…gah… MEN.
