About this deal

It's worth noting that you cannot place paint stripper in paint. Paint stripper is a purpose produced chemical to strip paint off a substrate. If you add paint stripper to paint as a thinning fluid then it will result in the paint simply falling off your project. Use xylene in a well-ventilated area: Xylene fumes can be dangerous if inhaled, so it is important to use it in a well-ventilated area to avoid any health risks.

Wear protective gear: When working with xylene, it is important to wear protective clothing, gloves, and a respirator mask to avoid inhaling the fumes. Lacquer thinner - A strong combination of different solvents including acetone, xylene, toluene, butyl acetate and other chemicals. Lacquer thinners are best used for thinning topcoat paints and varnishes as opposed to cleaning as the strength of the thinner can damage materials like wool (found on paint rollers). When the wax hardens, the tissue can then be carefully cut into thin slices using a microtome. Next, the thin sections are stained and placed on a microscope slide for examination. Step 5: Staining and mounting

Another alternative to xylene is soy-based solvents. These solvents are made from soybeans and are also non-toxic and biodegradable. They are also less flammable than xylene, making them safer to use. Not a complete list; according to OSHA, the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) and the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS). Substitutes for Xylene Explained Today, histology, pathology, cytology, research, veterinary, parasitology and dermatopathology labs should work to provide a safe environment for personnel by helping them avoid the toxic and dangerous effects of xylene. There are many safer options available. In natural conditions, xylene occurs in petroleum and coal tar. Xylenes are also found in small amounts in crude oil, ranging from around 0.5-1%, though the exact amount may vary from one source to another. Some crude oil deposits have higher concentrations of xylenes, and even in refined petroleum products, like gasoline and kerosene, there are traces of xylenes. If you are looking for a substrate cleaner, take a look at our Substrate Cleaners category. For example, we would suggest a water-based cleaner / degreaser such as Centrecoat Eco Cleaner and Degreaser for concrete. We would recommend PPG Prep 88 or Rust-Oleum ND14 for metal or concrete surfaces. Using Paint Thinners As Paint Removers

Kira S. (1977). "Measurement by gas chromatography of urinary hippuric acid and methylhippuric acid as indices of toluene and xylene exposure". Occupational and Environmental Medicine. 34 (305–309): 305–309. doi: 10.1136/oem.34.4.305. PMC 1008281. PMID 588486.You can use methylated spirits as a tool cleaner for products such Ardenbrite. Methylated spirit is a good cleaning agent as it is alcohol based. Xylene Paint Thinners Xylene is commonly used as a paint solvent because it’s excellent at removing old paint on a variety of surfaces. It’s also effective at removing greasy stains, resins, enamels, and glue. Xylene is used in the laboratory to make baths with dry ice to cool reaction vessels, [18] and as a solvent to remove synthetic immersion oil from the microscope objective in light microscopy. [19] In histology, xylene is the most widely used clearing agent. [20] Xylene is used to remove paraffin from dried microscope slides prior to staining. After staining, microscope slides are put in xylene prior to mounting with a coverslip.
