Two games are always available in the menu, while ten additional games are made available based on which form Grogu currently has. The R2-D2 Tamagotchi comes in two colors: a white model that more accurately resembles R2’s chassis, and a more retro translucent blue version that harkens back two decades to when people actually bought Tamagotchis. It was announced on September 20th, 2022 and released in Japan and the United States on January 9, 2023. The little egg-shaped virtual pet in our pocket disrupted classrooms around the world as they beeped incessantly, craving attention.

Having finally experienced a Tamagotchi, I have a better understanding of why people have loved these devices over the years.They’re both short bursts of fun, and just a sample of the efficient and clever game design that Bandai has poured into this release. The Grogu Tamagotchi is the second Nano model to be themed after the Star Wars franchise, the first being the R2-D2 Tamagotchi.

It was a simpler time, when all we had to think about was about bathing, feeding, playing with and cleaning up after our Tamagotchi when they had done a poop. After a while, interacting with Artoo just became a part of my day, which is decidedly different than playing a video or board game session. It also makes Star Wars the fourth brand to be the basis of more than one different Nano model, being preceded by Tokyo Disneyland with Pocket Usatama and Pocket Usapiyo, Sanrio with the Gudetama Tamagotchi and Hello Kitty Tamagotchi, and BTS with the BT21 Tamagotchi and TinyTAN Tamagotchi. The first minigames available include dejarik against Chewbacca, where you have to copy an onscreen button sequence to make the correct move, and another experience in which Artoo must extinguish a fire.The user must fully spell out his name by moving the cursor left or right using the A and B button to catch the right letters.

It is the first of several Star Wars projects produced for the Disney+ streaming service, with its first season debuting alongside the service's launch on November 12th, 2019. The latest Tamagotchi Nano collaboration puts Grogu under your care with the Star Wars™ Grogu™ Tamagotchi!Minigames increase Grogu's Happy level; winning the game fills Happy by one unit, while a perfect game fills Happy by two.
