About this deal

I love Yoi’s character, she’s a really great prince-type who just wants to have somebody think of her as an actual woman (I do feel she could probably grow her hair out and the series would end, but shhh…). Despite having her very wounded side, she’s no less of a badass when she needs to be too. Damsel in Distress: Many throughout the story, like the girl who has fallen down in the first chapter or the convenience store worker who is being aggressively hit on by an older customer. They are there for the writer to show off Yoi's natural princely qualities like her strong sense of justice.

Serious Business: After giving Ichimura's test dating proposal some thought, Yoi shows up the next day to school with a Comically Wordy Contract detailing the terms of their relationship in excruciating detail. One of Ichimura's friends asks Yoi's friend Nobara if she's always like this, to which she replies " Well, relatively." So I really like what this book is doing, but it feels like it’s taking its sweet time doing it. I might be wrong, but it felt a whole lot more introspective than we normally get in something like this, but without commensurate anything else to balance itself it kind of wobbles. The Comically Serious: In addition to her chaste and princely behavior, Yoi is in general a serious, straight-forward, and somewhat dense person, leading her to react to even the lightest of ribbings and teasings with bewilderment and getting flustered. For example, she takes Ichimura's suggestion to test date as Serious Business, producing a Comically Wordy Contract at school to go over how the arrangement should be.Yoi is one of the school’s princes; deep voiced, handsome… and also a girl. She can’t seem to escape her looks, but a chance encounter with the school’s other prince, Ichimura, means that there just might be a chance of somebody finally seeing her the way she wants to be seen… I Just Want to Be Normal: Said word for word by Yoi to Ichimura when he says that she really looked like a real prince defending a girl in need. Yoi explains that she never wanted to be a prince or a hero, it's just a role that others have projected onto her. Ichimura counters that it's good to be a princely girl, because being so, she doesn't have to adhere to all of the gender expectations that other girls must contend with. In The Clear Moonlit Dusk volume 1 is one of the strongest beginning volumes of a manga I’ve ever read. The story is quite engaging and I already love Yoi and Ichimura, as well as their dynamic. Since both characters have a “princely” reputation at their school, they already have a mutual understanding of what it’s like when peers judge them based upon apperance and socioeconomic status. I also love how Ichimiura is very honest about his attraction, perhaps even clumsily so, to Yoi (he tells her she is beautiful before even realizing she is female, in fact), but never acts pushy and is mindful about consent. Uruwashi no Yoi no Tsuki (うるわしの宵の月) also known as In the Clear Moonlit Dusk is a Shojo manga series written and illustrated by Mika Yamamori. Due to Yoi's more quiet nature, I'm very thankful we have the more daring and outspoken Ichimura! I really liked his character and how he really didn't give a crap of what others thought about him. Even though I feel at one time he pushed himself onto Yoi, I admire that he is respecting her boundaries and that he himself isn't pushing lines. He genuinely cares for our main girl and excited to see where that goes!

In the Clear Moonlit Dusk, Volume 2". Kodansha USA. Archived from the original on April 8, 2022 . Retrieved April 8, 2022. Caught in the Rain: In chapter 3, just as Yoi is trying to explain to Ichimura that she doesn't actually find his light teasing annoying as much as she does embarassing and disorienting, it begins to immediately downpour. This leads to the two taking shelter at what Yoi comes to realize is Ichimura's large house where he lives alone. There she's finally able to admit her desire to actually talk more with guys and Ichimura takes the opportunity to hold her hand. Yoi isn’t exactly thrilled with her reputation and how she is perceived by both female and male classmates but she just sort of shrugs it off and accepts her fate. Until one day she literally bumps into someone who will make her see things differently, including herself. Dubbed the “other prince” at their school, Kohaku Ichimura runs into Yoi and believes he has come across the most beautiful boy he has ever seen. It isn’t until Kohaku is corrected by his peers that he realizes Yoi is indeed a girl. Pineda, Rafael (April 7, 2022). "46th Annual Kodansha Manga Awards' Nominees Announced". Anime News Network. In the Clear Moonlit Dusk is a high school shoujo romance about a girl who is known as a prince in her school because of the way she talks and looks and a rich flirty guy who is THE OTHER PRINCE in her high school. Both known as princes, it was just a matter of time before they met. And oh my god I get this huge smile whenever I remember their meeting... and ALSO EVERY SINGLE SCENE WHERE THEY ARE TOGETHER.
