About this deal

This book is intended to be part of an Extensive Reading program to learn a language. It's goal is to provide Comprehensible Input for the beginner. I capitalized those words so you can do a search and learn about them yourself if they are unfamiliar to you. There's lots of info on the internet and youtube about them. There's also a very informative and helpful introduction and quite a bit of info in the front of this book on how to use it best. Each story has a controlled vocabulary and will introduce the reader to about 1000 of the most common words used in that language. About: A collection of short stories in Spanish, described as being for high-beginners/low-intermediate language learners. In these stories, you'll see a woman turn invisible, journey with Vikings to explore new lands, run from a beast in the woods and be a knight on a quest for the king, as well as many more. Controlled language at your level, including the most frequent words, to help you progress confidently This book is fantastic. An excellent aid to learning a language. The glossary at the end of each section of the story, as well as the summary and questions for comprehension, make for a book and language learning tool that leaves others in the dust.

StoryLearning Spanish Podcast! Introducing… The StoryLearning Spanish Podcast!

One of the most common questions I get about all my Spanish learning materials is this: “What variety of Spanish do you use?”Helpful Glossaries To Help You Learn New Words: Each episode also includes a glossary or word list, to help you build your Spanish vocab fast. We have selected around 10 words from every chapter to include in these glossaries. We're immersing ourselves in Spanish. But we're doing it at a level that is comprehensible to us, it's not too hard. That means that we can listen and read to the story and understand a fair amount of it. And when we understand a little bit (or maybe a lot!) that's when we can learn, because it's not too hard for us. Olly’s teaching style is based on the idea that language learning should be fun, engaging, and practical. His language learning resources often use storytelling as a tool for improving comprehension and building vocabulary. He also emphasizes the importance of speaking practice and encourages learners to practice with native speakers as much as possible. I think I would have enjoy this so much more if the author had instead of writing his own stories had instead opted to use already famous / good short stories and then adding this "learning" layer on top. I do realize this comes with a few problems on its own.

Short Stories in Spanish for Beginners by Olly Richards

An unmissable collection of eight unconventional and captivating short stories for young and adult learners. The La criatura story made me laugh but I did think her family were mean to have pulled that kind of prank on her! And La Paella Loca definitely relied on a few heavy coincidences. Short Stories in Spanish for Beginners has been written especially for students from beginner to intermediate level, designed to give a sense of achievement, and most importantly - enjoyment! Mapped to A2-B1 on the Common European Framework of Reference, these eight captivating stories will both entertain you, and give you a feeling of progress when reading. But if you haven't learned with a story-based method before, you might be wondering, “Well okay, you're going to give me a chapter of a story every day, but what exactly do I do with it? How do I learn from that?” We couldn't be prouder of the podcast we've produced and we're very excited to share it with the world.
