About this deal

NEW: Holland/Beyda Spec Trailer with an Introduction by Tom Holland – the never-before-seen alternate trailer cut by Fright Night editor Kent Beyda with the guidance—and narration—of Tom Holland Teenage Charley Brewster (Ragsdale) is a horror-film junkie, so it’s no surprise that, when a reclusive new neighbor named Jerry Dandridge (Sarandon) moves next-door, Brewster becomes convinced he is a vampire. It’s also no surprise when nobody believes him. However, after strange events begin to occur, Charlie has no choice but to turn to the only person who could possibly help: washed-up television vampire killer Peter Vincent (McDowall).

NEW: Holland/Beyda Spec Trailer with an Introduction by Tom Holland – the never-before-seen alternate trailer cut by Fright Night editor Kent Beyda with the guidance—and narration—of Tom Holland Roddy McDowall: From Apes to Bats (1080p; 20:48): The cast and crew discuss working with McDowall in a series of interviews recorded in 2016 as part of the feature-length documentary You’re So Cool, Brewster!NEW** A Novel Approach: The Splatterpunk Story of the “Fright Night” Novelization (1080p; 8:10): Tom Holland, novelists John Skipp and Craig Spector, and publisher Mark Allan Miller discuss the novelization craze of the late 1970s and mid 1980s and how the novel came to be.

NEW Fright Night 35th Anniversary Script Read – an anniversary cast reunion and script reading featuring writer/director Tom Holland and special guests including Rosario Dawson, Jason Patric, and many more! Also included is a tour through the picture’s only deleted scene by way of storyboard artwork. Director Tom Holland explains why the sequence was scrapped. He also gives us a look at his original concept for the finale. The director describes the scene with such love and admiration, making it a far more intimate affair than watching excised footage without the benefit of commentary from the creative team, not to mention storyboards that Holland has held onto for nearly 40 years. Although it was remade and released in 2011, it couldn’t hold a candle to quality of the original. With wonderful performances from the entire cast including, but especially, Chris Sarandon and Roddy McDowall, Fright Night stands as not just one of the best of its era, but one of the most enjoyable vampire films ever made. It helped to set the standard for a section of the genre that, during its heyday, was in need of a boost due to the overwhelming glut of slashers.La compra es segura, y aunque el envío es más tardado de lo normal debido a la procedencia del mismo, llego sin problema y en buen estado, incluso mucho antes de lo estipulado. Weekend of Hell Panel with Amanda and Stephen (upscaled 1080i; 12:52): Another fan’s home movie taken at the 2015 Weekend of Hell convention in Germany. Tom Holland’s Fright Night is one of those 1980s films, like The Howling and Re-Animator, that fearlessly blends horror and comedy into one fetching confection. This requires a delicate balancing act to prevent one mood from undercutting and thus negating the other. Making his debut as a feature filmmaker, Holland acquits himself admirably. The comedy aspects shine through owing to sharp writing and a game cast of both seasoned veterans and talented newcomers. On the other hand, the efficacy of the often gloopy horror elements can be ascribed to a crew of makeup and visual effects personnel who were fresh off making the immensely popular Ghostbusters. Esta es una excelente opción para quien quiera disfrutarla en HD sin desembolsar mucho entre varias otras opciones que existen y que no incluyen Audio o Subtitulos en Español.

Audio Commentary: Writer/Director Tom Holland, Actors William Ragsdale & Stephen Geoffreys, and FX Artist Randall Cook. Moderated When I first found myself becoming horror oriented at the tail end of elementary school I became obsessed with the book series Goosebumps and Shivers. This soon spilled over to the television adaptation of the Goosebumps series along with Are You Afraid of the Dark? Soon I was discovering Stephen King, serial killers, and classic horror. It was around this time that I watched Fright Night for the first time. It was on cable but I can’t remember the channel or the circumstances around it but I do remember becoming obsessed with it. What is “Fright Night?” (1080p; 10:37): Various members of the cast and crew discuss what made Fright Night unique and memorable in a series of interviews recorded in 2016 as part of the feature-length documentary You’re So Cool, Brewster! High dynamic range added a tangible visual element that enriched both natural and artificial light. Its application is appropriately applied here, keeping within the boundaries of the film’s cinematography and visual aesthetic. It is safe to say that this is the best that Fright Night has looked on home video. I am pleased to see the consistency with which Sony is releasing titles from their catalog to Ultra HD. I hope that trend continues. NEW! Photo Galleries (1080p): Auto-advancing stills.
