About this deal

With quick cyclic switching between different color tones, an illusion for a new intermediate color tone is created. The ASUS TUF Gaming VG249Q1A and the Dell S2721DGF are great gaming monitors with a 165Hz refresh rate, but the ASUS has a 24 inch screen with a 1080p resolution, while the Dell has a 27 inch screen with a 1440p resolution. The Dell also has a faster response time for clear motion, and it gets brighter, making it more suited to well-lit rooms. This means you might have to change the overdrive setting if the frame rate of your game drops or if you change sources. Sadly, it doesn't look as good in the dark due to its sub-par contrast ratio and poor black uniformity. The Dell S2721DGF and the Dell S2722DGM use different panel technologies, each with strengths and weaknesses. The LG has more screen real estate, a faster refresh rate, better black uniformity, and it's more accurate out of the box.Unfortunately, the Dell S2721DGF has disappointing accuracy out of the box, much worse than the HP X27q. This isn’t only a solid output just in itself, but it’s also a great start for entry-level gaming PCs with flexibility depending on the game you’re playing – playing a story heavy or overall slow-paced game where visuals matter more? This is because the G2724D has a faster response time across its entire refresh rate range, and it has better compatibility with consoles.

HDR expands the contrast ratio (peak luminance and minimal black levels) and color palette to achieve more details across the whole image - from the darkest parts to the brightest ones, which results in more realistic and life-like image. Each has its own specific features - viewing angles, color reproduction, response time, brightness/contrast, production cost, etc. For example, when a smaller area/APL of the display is used for showing a bright object, when a bright object is displayed for a short time, etc. Its larger screen size also means it has a lower pixel density than the Dell, so the image isn't quite as sharp.

The Dell S2721DGF has a superb SDR color gamut, with complete coverage of the sRGB color space used by most current desktop and web content, including games. The LG has an optional black frame insertion feature, which can help reduce the amount of persistence blur seen on-screen. If issue is covered by Limited Hardware Warranty and not resolved remotely, technician and/or part will be dispatched usually within 1 or 2 business days following completion of remote diagnosis. Another aspect that’ll bolster the value and quality of this monitor is its resolution and refresh rates of 1440p and 165Hz respectively.

Despite the S2721DGF’s less than stellar SDR contrast, it provides an excellent gaming experience, thanks to its bright, saturated color and perfect video processing, plus impressive HDR image and perfect video processing. Please do not feel any sense of urgency based on our data, we exist only to help you save money in a calm and well-thought out manner. Expansive views: Game with minimal distractions and a larger surface area thanks to a 3-sided ultrathin bezel. This is extremely unusual; we rechecked it with different equipment and confirmed that it's flickering at about 20kHz. We tested the monitor with the PS5's new variable refresh rate feature and confirmed that it's not compatible, since the PS5 only supports HDMI Forum VRR.

The S2721DGFA is not the most expensive product out on the marketplace, however it might cost more as opposed to the more widespread options like 1080p ones as a result of its Quad HD definition. It's a versatile monitor with great reflection handling and a high peak brightness in SDR, so glare isn't an issue in a bright room. The Dell has better ergonomics, gets brighter in SDR, has better reflection handling, and the response time is much quicker.Outside of more premium monitors, such as those with a full-array local dimming (FALD) backlight, this is one of the best HDR screens we’ve reviewed based on observation of actual content. The monitor's 1440p, runs at 165 Hz without overclock, has AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and G-Sync Compatibility, covers a large portion of the DCI-P3 color gamut and includes a lighting effect on the back. The bottom trim is a little wider at 17mm and features a Dell logo that shimmers in different colors when light is reflected on it.
