About this deal

Take turns building the Mouse Trap as you move around the gameboard. Then use the Mouse Trap to try to capture your opponents' mice. On your turn, roll the die and move your mouse the number of gameboard spaces shown. Then follow any instructions printed on the space you land on. Two or more mice may be on one space at the same time. The weight of the metal marble catapults the diver M through the air and into the washtub N, causing the cage O to fall from the top of the post P and trap the unsuspecting mouse.

Includes: gameboard, 4 x plastic mice, 1 xmarble, 24 xcheese wedges, 25 xmouse trap building parts and accessories, 1 x rubber band, 1 x die, building plans Whenever a mouse lands on a Build space that's located on The Loop section of the game path, add two parts to the Mouse Trap and take two cheese pieces from the cheese pile. When the Mouse Trap is complete, players do nothing when their mouse lands on a Build space. The first player to collect 6 cheese wedges wins. While kids are engaged in playing the Mouse Trap game, they can practice valuable skills in construction, cause and effect, and decision-making. As they interact with the trap, a working multi-part machine, kids can practice construction skills.

Building The Mouse Trap

What remains an intrinsic element to the gameplay is that sometimes the mechanism just doesn’t work and turning the crank creates only frustration and groans from the players at the malfunctioning machinery. Despite this, or for some players perhaps because of it, the game has enduring appeal and at the time of writing it’s still being published - currently by Hasbro. In 2004, forty-one years after it first went on sale, it was one of the UK’s 50 top- selling toys. The sense of wonder and joy at building an overly complicated contraption and watching the cause and effect of the machinery performing a simple task (or sometimes not!) is central to the game’s popularity. Whilst we will do everything we can to meet the delivery times above, there may be factors outside of our control and we cannot guarantee delivery within this time frame.

If there is no opposing mouse (or mice) on the Cheese Wheel space, try to move one or more mice there. See Moving Opponents1 Mice section that follows. These are the six spaces at the end of the path beginning with the Safe space and ending with the Cheese Wheel space. This section of the path is called The Loop and it is where mice are captured. Includes gameboard, 4 mouse pawns, marble, 21 Mouse Trap contraption parts, rubber band, 24 cardboard cheese wedges, die, and instructions. The gameplay of Mouse Trap involves players taking it in turns to roll the die and move their mouse-shaped game piece the appropriate number of squares. As players race around the board, they land on squares instructing them to build the three-dimensional mouse trap, following instructions illustrated in the centre of the game board. Once the mouse trap has been built, the aim of the game is to trap your opponents’ mice, which eliminates them from the game. Last mouse surviving, wins. WATCH OUT FOR THE TRAP: Scurry around the gameboard, but watch out for the trap! Players set off a chain reaction to catch other players' mice. Be the first to collect 6 cheese wedges to winIf two or more opponents are tied for the most Cheese pieces, you may take them all from one opponent or divide the amount between them. Your turn is then over. When you land on one of these spaces, take the indicated number of Cheese pieces from the Cheese pile. If the Cheese pile is empty, take the Cheese pieces from the opponent with the most Cheese pieces. Remember: You may only turn the crank after the Mouse Trap is complete and when your mouse is on the Turn Crank space and an opponent is on the Cheese Wheel space. Moving Opponents' Mice Versions of the game have entered popular culture over the years. A giant version featured in ITV’s Saturday morning children’s TV show Motormouth from September 1990 to April 1992 where children took the place of mice. This isn’t the only giant version to be built for entertainment – at the time of writing a huge version, created in 2005 by San Francisco based Mouse Trap fan Mark Perez, is still touring the USA as an educational show demonstrating the physics behind the designs of the simple machines. EASY SET UP: This edition of the Mouse Trap game for kids is easier to set up than previous versions, so kids can get right to the mouse-catchin' action
