At the end of the queue, riders are given a visor that looks like a Mario hat—and since we’re now a part of Team Mario, the hat is appropriate. This ready room allows everyone time to adjust the hat to fit their head, while also watching a short presentation featuring Miis that teaches you how the ride’s game mechanics work. Definitely something to only do on a quiet day. I don't queue, almost for anything! It ranks with watching advertising as the biggest irritant and waste of time possible. While the SNW area is the furthest part of the park (past the Jaws and Jurassic Park area and next to the Water World area) the terminals to get your time slot is near the middle of the park, (or down a road on your left just before Jaws). Getting your time slot as early as possible is a must, as I who got to the park at 10am and didn’t figure that out till about 12pm, got my time slot for 7:10pm.

It's been ages since I've been to a theme park, (being a hermit and all), but I do recall the endless lineups being the worst part of the experience. That food does look pretty good tho. The overall execution is clever and chaotic. You feel as if you’re right in a game of Mario Kart. You’re being spun around because you were hit by a shell, trying to shoot the other races on-screen (aka on your AR glasses) while attempting to soak in all the fun Mario Kart elements thrown your way. The Park Front Hotel at Universal Studios Japan– You’re directly in front of the Park gates and have instant access to Universal CityWalk Osaka. The rooms are gorgeous, with restaurants and even a Lawson (Japanese convenience store).The Mario Kart 24V Ride-on Racer has three forward-driving speed settings to go up to 8 MPH, along with authentic sounds from the Mario Kart series. There’s even an adjustable seat that grows with the driver.

Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge combines AR on your headset and physical sets. The courses you’ll race through have physically moving set pieces with additional elements superimposed through the AR glasses when you’re looking at them. What do you see on the AR Glasses? A total of 4 racers are in each Kart, and the first thing to do once you pull down the lap bar is to tap your Power Up Band on the steering wheel. This will sync your score and achievements to the Universal Studios Japan app. I did not do this the first time and missed out on collecting stamps. Yeah, this looks like the ride they have in Japan. At least you can throw items, lol. Would love to do the VR MARIO KART they have at the Namco-Bandai arcade. HeadPirate I’ve been to both parks (I’m actually currently in California with my wife lol, and our honeymoon was to Japan a few years ago) and honestly not really? Sure the Japan one was better, that’s a given, but the Hollywood one wasn’t “soulless?” Also the lines aren’t that different to be honest. They were real long at both. Getting one the “watches” is ideal if you want interact with the park, which is arguably the main feature, as you can’t get into Bowser’s Castle without having enough points.
It's a shame they let these parks be so overcrowded that you spend 90% of your time waiting rather than enjoying it and they charge a small fortune for it. I love theme parks but it has got so ridiculous these days. While Super Nintendo World was announced to officially open this week, they have postponed the grand opening at this time. They say a new grand opening date will be announced after the “state of emergency” has been lifted in Osaka. Guests of Universal Studios Japan may have a chance to experience a technical rehearsal during this time, but it is not guaranteed that all attractions will be open. After riding it multiple times, I found it more enjoyable the second and third times. I had a better idea of how the mechanics worked and figured out where to look with the AR. JAKKS Pacific is working on the Mario Kart 24V Ride-on Racer, and they plan to launch it sometime in Fall 2022. The Mario Kart 24V Ride-on Racer is made for ages 3 years and up.

As a life long Disney fan visiting the various resorts around the world is a must. Always planning the next adventure and willing to share it with Disney enthusiasts across the globe. My love of everything Disney comes from the quality story telling in the classics and the box office hits of today. The unsurpassed guest experience keeps entices me to return. The long and detailed queue makes much sense with how popular this will undoubtedly be. The library is my favourite portion of the queue, with all the small details sprinkled throughout. AR HeadsetThroughout our journey around the course, we pass through settings taken directly from the games. Some of the scenes include Dolphin Shoals, Twisted Mansion, Grumble Volcano, and Rainbow Road. Different parts of the ride see us facing off against different characters from Team Bowser including Bowser and the Koopalings. The premise for this attraction is that Bowser has challenged Mario to a race that he designed. As a part of Team Mario, you’ll be helping to defeat Bowser at his own race. The name of this course is the Universal Cup, which is fitting for the venue. The food is worse and anywhere from 50%-200% more expensive, plus you have to wait all day if you want to get something from the Toad Caffe. Oh, and by the way, the food is actually not bad! (This opinion may have been aided by the fact that I was ravenous by the time I finally did eat.)

The race begins like every other Mario Kart game you’ve ever played – with the iconic countdown music. The first moment I heard that I got chills down my spine and had the biggest smile on my face. The ride moves slower than expected due to your headset and AR glasses. On one of my ride-throughs, I attempted to adjust my headset, and it fell off my head as we spun. Mario Kart is absolute chaos; I love that because it’s true to the game. During your first ride-through, you may come off disappointed. But ride again, and you’ll enjoy it much more. Yeah, definitely wait until it calms down some. Really love the way they create a problem and then try to up-sell you to have a fast way to get around the problem they've created. Pure capitalist brilliance!
