Whereas this remastered version does sound as though it's going to distort the more you push it, making it an unpleasant listen. Hysteria is as good as anything any of those bands recorded (it’s also a fine reminder of how integral a part of Leppard the late, great Steve Clark was – the guitarist bought a shot of nervy but cool charisma that the band have never truly replicated). So the plan was we were pretty much going to use either the Rockman, or Rock Box for everything guitar wise. I waited several years for this album to be released after my favorite album pyromania blew me away and made me a devoted def lepprd fan at 11 years of age. Def Leppard and Guns N’ Roses were nowhere to be seen in the end-of-year-charts; even Cinderella’s Night Songs shifted more copies. Def Leppard have always been reluctant to throw open the archive for public consumption, but surely this self-imposed statute of limitations has run out?The biggest hard rock album of 1987 – by several million miles – was Bon Jovi’s Slippery When Wet, even though it was released the previous year. So I do have an affection for Def Leppard from that time, albums like High n Dry, Pyromania and Hysteria I do like having on vinyl.

Frontman Joe Elliott says “It’s hard to believe that it’s been thirty years since the release of Hysteria…. I have what appears to be the 2017 pressing according to the catalogue number on the cover and Vinyls, but the matrix on the runout grooves is 01036284, this pressing doesn't seem to be listed on Discogs.In the end, Hysteria spent 78 weeks in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart — the most weeks spent in the top 10 for an album by a rock band in the chart’s 61-year history. Sav would be playing the next chord while the first chord was playing back from the multi track and when the time came we’d just punch in the next chord, eliminating the fret noise completely and giving us a clean smooth jangle sound. But this is where Mutt taught the band and me that music production is about the song and arrangement first, then performance, followed lastly by the sound. Either QC issues or the utter disregard for the job that needs to be done for cutting and mastering.
