About this deal

I think the good things about Desperate Measures are the dynamics that are created between Jasmine and Jafar. It was a great relationship and I loved the moments they shared, especially when there was raw emotion with them dealing with it all. I love how Jasmine questions a lot of what was going on and whether it was right for her. It was great to see the ending go in a completely different direction. I appreciate the effort that was made. Utterly gripping, as swift as a runaway train, full of excitement and emotion. The story combines terrific suspense with a subtle and powerful exploration of the effects of loss and unresolved grief. An exceptional thriller.” Desperate Measures is based on Aladdin. We then follow Jasmine when Jafar has overthrown her father. Although the politics are similar the setting is city based instead of the desert. I really love how they write Jasmine and her curiosity of the world around her. The city added a roughness to her encounters and fits the overall feel of the book and sexual encounters with Jafar. I really wish there had been more development of her in the outside world and with other people other than Jafar and within The Underground. It's so amazingly written and catches the tone of the original yet adds aspects which gives it a bit more spice, wit and romance - almost unbelievable considering how marvelous the original was already.

I adored how some side characters were given more space - especially on Darcy's side with Georgiana, Colonel Fitzwilliam and Anne de Bourgh. I’ve heard many sooo much praise for Cassandra Grafton and this trilogy, and since I love Pride and Prejudice variations I knew it was something I had to read! The only question was when – because you definitely need to read this trilogy without break. If you are an ardent admirer of Pride and Prejudice variations, then you need to do yourself a favor and devour this expressive and eloquent trilogy, if you haven’t already! Filled with soul-searching, slow-paced exhilaration, and sweeping romance, Cassandra Grafton’s A Fair Prospect is definitely one of my favorites! Big applause to Cassandra Grafton for such a remarkable story!

Desperate Measures is the final leg in the A Fair Prospect trilogy and it does the job of bringing all conflicts to the fore and resolving them in entertaining ways. It was at this point in the book that I was about ready to close it up and start another book because the whole "I'm going to kill myself" angle was getting very, very old. I realize that Morrell was writing out of the pain of losing his own son to cancer, but the book was rapidly losing interest for me. Pete Sorenson was 6 when parents died and his best friend, Barney (or Barnaby) Sims hid him in his tree house to try and keep the DPS from taking him away and putting him in a foster home. Barney had problems of his own though. His stepfather beat both him and his mother. It was 2 days before they found the boys in the tree house and Pete was taken away. His caseworker was Harriet Wardlaw and she was told to not get personally involved. I loved Desperate Measures and the whole A Fair Prospect set! I highly recommend this set to an Austenesque fan! It is well worth the read!

There was a side story that finally had its own conclusion… took three books and a conversation to clear it up. The epilogue was nice and wrapped up most of the loose threads. We were told what happened with the rest of the characters. I just wanted it to be over. I did not enjoy this journey. I wanted to pull out my hair. Without doubt one of the best series I ever read not just because it's a retelling and continuation of my favorite book ever - Pride and Prejudice. After overhearing part of a conversation, Darcy, desperate to leave London and Lizzy's presence, takes Georgiana and goes to Bath. He is hoping the change in scenery will help him forget the ache in his heart and the despair in his soul. The Colonel, who has some interesting news of his own to impart, soon joins them. Pittman says he is the sum of the stories he has written. Newspaperman as Main Character allows Pittman to call on the expertise of various people he has interviewed over the years---an interesting device that allows a regular guy to get out of some harrowing situations. As Pittman defends himself and digs further into the murders and the stories they reveal, he uncovers decades of political intrigue. Imagine being so desperate to save your son that you think a bank robbery is the only way to fix things… Well, welcome to the world of Rowan in Desperate Measures.
