If you’ve got delicate items that you don’t want to use direct heat on then I like flat drying / laying flat my delicate garment on a towel to help them keep their shape and avoid being stretched out. These kinds of dryers are ideal if you want smaller garments dried over a period of time. Things like underwear and t-shirts are ideal, but for longer items like dresses this isn’t the best option.

Compared to a tumble dryer, however, the story is a little more nuanced. If you have small amounts of washing that can fit on a heated airer in one go, then there are savings to be made when compared to condenser tumble dryers.

2. Utilise your washing machine

Ease of use: Heated airers are easy to use, but non-heated airers are even easier. You don’t need to worry about plugging a non-heated airer in, choosing the right setting or remembering to turn it off. Heated airers have become incredibly popular over the past few years because they offer a convenient and cost-effective alternative to traditional drying methods like drying laundry on a washing line or in a tumble dryer. Nevertheless, there is one major concern when it comes to heated airers and that is, will the airer cause dampness in a home? Anywhere you can! Ideally you want a room with good ventilation and where you can open a window to avoid moisture build-up too.

Should you leave a window open when drying clothes?
